Re: Best defenses of all time

The Bears 46 defense was the best defense I have ever seen.

Otis Wilson said it best when he said, "Buddy Ryan was the 1st guy to figure out that tjhe defense had the offense outnumbered."

They were nearly a decade ahead of offenses.

No one was running spreads, and the quick drop, west coast hadnt spread league wide yet...so QBs were literally being knocked out cold on the field.

Theyve got to have a league record for QBs knocked out of games.
You're sooo right about Dent. He needs to be in this game bad. And as for knocking guys out, do you remember those specials where they'd talk about how many helmets Singletery broke--both his own and his opponents'--from hitting so fricking hard? That was one helluva defense.

That Phily defense had some serious intimidation factor as well. Simmons, Brown, and White were killer, and Andre Watters (dirty, I know) had nobody wanting to catch anything over the middle. And then there was Eric Allen locking down the opponent's number one guy.

Some may be surprised that the Eagles 46 defense of 1991 is #1 but I remember that team and they were scary good on D. A couple years later they had like 6 sacks on Aikman, they just caused havoc with their safeties, corners linebackers and that incredible Dline.

Anyone else try to recreate a defense from a certain era with the players in the game.

Buddy Ryan was a heck of a defensive coach. I rember that crew.

That Troy Aikman game was "The Body Bag Game."

They knocked 11 cowboys out of the game, the highlight being the late Andre Waters, doing a WWE Referee 3 count on a unconcious wide reciever.

Re: Best defenses of all time

The one I really remember from the Bears was against the Skins when, by the 4th, they had knocked out Thiesman and Schoerder and there was some emergency WR/QB in the game.
