San Antonio Hawks- Dominant WCO and poor man's 3-4 Defense
      G: QB Steve Young
      G: WR Jerry Rice
      S: TE Ben Coates
      S: RB Ricky Waters
      S: WR Don Maynard
      B: OLB Lamar Lathon
      B: OLB Robert Brazile
      B: ILB Chris Spielman
      B: DE Leonard Marshall
      B: DT William Perry
      B: S Nolan Cromwell

New York Nightmares- Cheap ball control offense and Dominant Hybrid Defense (both 3-4, 4-3)
      G: DE Reggie White
      G: OLB Lawrence Taylor CAP
      S: CB Mel Renfro
      S: CB Roger Wehrli
      S: S Leroy Butler
      B: ILB Pepper Johnson
      B: DT Dan Saleamua
      B: S Eugene Robinson
      B: RB Christian Okoye
      B: WR Dwight Clark
      B: WR Rob Moore

Dallas Desperados- Poor man's spread offense and Tough overall 4-3 Defense
      G: S Ronnie Lott
      G: ILB Mike Singletary
      S: CB Lem Barney
      S: DE Chris Doleman
      S: DT Keith Millard
      B: CB Terry McDaniel
      B: QB Steve Bartkowski
      B: WR Anthony Carter
      B: WR Mark Carrier
      B: WR Ernest Givins
      B: WR Rick Upchurch

These are the teams I play with the most. I have some others that feature a higher quality spread offense and a cheap WCO, and some different defense philosophies. There are a couple repeat players, but I try not to use the same players over and over again. I still haven't quite gotten the hang of using the 46 Bear defense as a base defense without dedicating almost all of my legends to the D. I also wish there were some varied 4-3 zone plays better mimic running the Tampa 2.

I, too, only have one team, and though it changes fairly frequently, here's what I'm rolling with now. I really like this squad and will probably stick with it for a while:

            G Mike Singletary
            G Emmit Smith

            S Charlie Taylor
            S Pete Pihos
            S Leroy Butler

            B William Perry

            B Nolan Cromwell
            B Albert Lewis
            B Steke Wisnewski

What do you have your generic Dline and LB corps set at? I'm just curious since you have very little dedicated to the defensive front 7. Are you manning up on the outside and bringing blitzes a lot? I've never been able to get a solid pass rush from an all generic Dline without constantly bringing a 5th and oftentimes a 6th rusher, so any tips on how you do it would be appreciated.

                    S: Leroy Butler SS
                    S: Jack Youngblood DE

B: The 6-2 Bronze FS that starts with an "M" for his last name (forgot)

                    And trying this out kinda:

                    G: Deacon Jones DE
                    G: D!ck Butkus

                    S: Jack Tatum FS
                    S: Charley Taylor WR
                    S: L. C. Greenwood DE

                    B: Terry McDaniel
                    B: Albert Lewis
B: QB Neil O'Donnell OR an RB undecided (help!)
                    B: Dan Saleaumua DT
                    B: Jeff Jaeger K
                    B: Tony Martin

The idea with this team was to be able to move the ball in the air when the D gets cocky and overcommits... especially running against man coverage on drags and crosses getting Taylor in space. Dominating on special teams is a must with Taylor returning and Jaeger Kicking I know I need every 3 I get.

The defense banks on those costly DE's wreaking havoc every which way and Butkus closing up the middle and being a leader overall. I like the idea of having 4 players with ball strip on that defense hopefully rattling out some turnovers if I can land some big hits and get momentum in my favor.

Probably should pickup a bronze RB on offense? I was also considering switching up the WR, using a generic QB and getting a Silver Chris Warren and pounding, hoping my bronze Wr's can get open when neceessary. Any advice is appreciated. I'd like to keep my kicker and 2 bronze 1 silver offense. Thanks!

Re: Show me what you got

I like that you're showing Charlie Taylor some love. He's been my secret weapon for quite some time. I've run back lots of kicks with him, and had plenty of 100-yard days. The quick feet will get him separation on in routes.

If I were you, I'd go with a generic QB over a generic RB. I have played extensively with generic pocket passers, and I'd say that in 2/3 or 3/4 of my games I have a rating of over 100 with them. It's all about reading the coverage and getting rid of the ball on time. Plus, if you run well, you'll wear down the defense and slow down the rush.

As for your defense, it looks nice. Lots of big hit, tough guy types. I'll look forward to seeing that team!

                        G: Larry Little
                        G: Mike Ditka

                        S: Matt Snell
                        S: Lenny Moore
                        S: Lem Barney

                        B: Steve Grogan
                        B: Albert Lewis
                        B: Nolan Cromwell
                        B: Dexter Manley
                        B: Alex Van Pelt
                        B: Robert Brazile

Very good rushing attack (Little + Ditka = awesome blocking from your generics; Snell is my favorite silver back by far, has speed and power and is a great blocker) and solid passing from Grogan (accurate on short and intermediate routes), with Ditka being Ditka and Lenny Moore a wild card (he never whips anyone deep, but just seems to get open and haul down passes, and I sometimes put him at HB behind a lead-blocking Snell).

Defense is total bargain-basement/draft for best value and/or available athlete. Doesn't really excel at anything, and can be overwhelmed by great passing teams, but is very good in zones and at executing a "earn your yards" approach. Van Pelt and Brazile are the keys -- when they're flying to the ball and covering the flats/short zones well, it helps everywhere else.

Also, Cromwell is really fun to bring on the occasional blitz, he's like a poor man's Leroy Butler in terms of his quickness to the QB.

TE: Eric Green (Great run blocker, and surprisingly good pass catcher)
OLB: Carl Banks (Will allow me some blitzing power)
                            OLB: Otis Wilson (Read above)
CB: Tom Brookshier (Figure he will be good on CB blitzes)
Hornung is a beast and John Brodie was league MVP one season. He is good in a short passing game but the deep ball is not in his arsenal.
