Re: Is this cheese?

Everyone already expressed my sentiments on this one. I don't like when people do #2 at all.

Re: Is this cheese?

#1 - is fine in fact I use a Gold FB ( John L. Williams ) and will send him on a streak route out of the backfield to keep the safeties honest and if they leave him open it is usually a TD.

#2 - Comeback routes will work against any defense if the timing is right. I had a friend who used Montana, Dwight Clark, and John Taylor and his comeback routes he perfected against any of my defense. I would have to go over and manually sit under his WR's to stop this.

#3 - There are plenty of TE and WR screens in this game. If you are playing against a zone defense this will work great but against man it usually gets picked. The TE screens are very dangerous and will result in huge plays for gain if they stay in zone. I will use my generic TE to do this since they are usually neglected by the defense and I have ran that play with TD's for 50 yard gains before. If you are using the standard playbook you should add the Far, and Near formations along with more split back formations. They are there and can be very effective if you practice it.

My rule of thumb is this-

If you have to ask "Is this cheese?" It probably is.

Actually I think I figured something out to space out the wide area in order to get this play to work outside against a zone.

Re: Is this cheese?

It's all good except snapping the ball when the WR is in motion between the G and C. I generally don't snap the ball while a man is in motion at all cuz the AI D has such a tough time keeping track of men in motion.

I appreciate the fact that you ask if something is cheese. A lot of people find ways to exploit games and think nothing of it as long as they're winning.

The second one would kind of bother me just because of the DB tracking against man coverage sometimes doesn't follow well at all so snapping a ball before a WR is set then throwing it to him can kind of take advantage of the AI. This move is banned in most leagues and tournaments I've played it. As far as run plays go, snapping before the WR/TE/HB is set is perfectly acceptable, its just the pass plays people have problems with.
I see what you are saying but I am only looking to do this against zone coverage. However what if I hiked it right when the receiver reaches the tackle or tight end on either side (which alot of NFL teams do when motioning). Would that be acceptable? or is any snapping during the movement of a receiver deemed cheap and cheesey?

Re: Is this cheese?

I don't think it's things that parallel the NFL, but things that the defensive AI can't handle

Not really, you would be surprised for what I have been called cheap for.

1. Running the ball to the left to much
2. Running the ball the the right too much
3. Running the ball up the middle too much
4. Too many short passes
5. Too many deep passes
6. Throwing to a player too much
7. Running a player too much
8. Manual blitzing with a linebacker or corner
9. Using double screens
10. Throwing to the back on deep patterns
11. Too many formation shifts
