Considering ALL PRO FOOTBALL doesn't have a lot of options for being released multiple years I think the APF franchise would work great as a downloadable game, one that could be expanded on over time little by little.
For the next version they could just sign one star for the cover/title, and drop the year, so it could be Barry Sanders' All Pro Football (or Stever McNair, John Elway, Joe Montana, or whoever)... And then when there is time they could add things like customization options, stadiums, play editors, new commentary, AI tweaks, different game modes, new features, etc. as an add-on or expansion pack for a modest price.
So they could essentially alter APF 2K8 a bit, release it at a reduced price on the PSN Store and Xbox Live, and have the game stay relevant and relatively fresh over time.
Who knows, maybe they could even release the initial game on disc...
And
then put it online, like Burnout Paradise... Whatever is most cost effective.
