Gold DT's: can they pass rush?

I love the idea of getting pressure on the qb up the middle rather than just from my legend DE, but I haven't had too much consistent success. So here are my questions

1. Has anyone else had success? If so, is that using him or letting the CPU do it? And by success I don't just mean sacks, I mean rushes, ect. or even noticing more generics getting sacks, ect.

2. If you do have success, is that controlling him manually or letting the CPU do it?

3. What about Randy White? He's the one I'd most like to use for his clutch ability (even one key sack a game would be worth it if it works that way). He kills me when I go up against him, but I can't tell whether he's worth a pick in my limited testing because he gets doubled so often.

Of the Gold DT's, my favorite is the "Manster". He gets pressure and gets there fast. He's a bit undersized but he's a beast.

"Fatso" is very good and some love him but I hate the animation where he (and many other powerful DT's like Jerome Brown) simply pancake the O-lineman because it takes them completely out of the play.

Playing on Legend instead of All Pro seems to make Lineman much more relevant

No doubt. I was playing a friend who went DL heavy versus my generic OL, and I had to break down and pick one OL just to mitigate the damage.
