Odd Glitch?

I was playing this game earlier today, when I had a kick off, that I kind of pooched it, the CPU returner had to chase after the ball after it stopped rolling at the 2, now he picks it up, makes a move and then runs into the endzone and proceeds to go out of bounds in the endzone.

I thought this would be a safety, but all the game did was give the CPU the ball at the 2.

yeah, i've seen that too. It's not strictly accurate, but I think it's there for one of two reasons:

1. a glitch with the forward progression algorithm (although this is unlikely since the game handles this well in other areas, like when a runner goes backwards. Or maybe you have to complete an animation or something for it to register as going backward.)

2. a glitch to combat another glitch

I think it's the second, and I'm glad it's there. There are situations where it's difficult if not impossible to stop your player from doing these kinds of things, and no one wants to get points or lose points on something like that.
