    Name your Two Gold Players

Do you normally go Two Defensive Gold, Two Offensive Gold? One Offense and One Defense? I can't seem to get away from Ronnie Lott and Rod Woodson. I was doing the Jerry Rice Ronnie Lott Combination for a while, but I love doubling the opposition's wide receiver with Rod Woodson and Ronnie Lott. It's just so much fun! I'm an interceptions guy though. If your playing against a Gold QB and they don't have a Gold or Silver Wide Receiver, they are smart enough to just avoid that side of the field altogether. I can't believe after two years I play this game like it just came out.

the teams i actually use have...

    rod woodson and lawrence taylor
    peyton manning and bob sanders
    rod woodson and ronnie lott
lee roy selmon and derrick thomas

i try to stay away from gold offense, just to challenge myself, although i used to have criminal success with a combo of john elway and terrell davis. on most of my teams, my quarterback is silver and the rest of my offense is all bronze, with the majority of my team being defensive. it's more fun that way.

I generally like to run a pretty balanced roster and have one of each. But I've gotten to the point where I MUST have a Gold DL to bring the pressure since it seems like Legends in the secondary still make boneheaded mistakes.

Any team I ever made didn't run without Emmitt Smith.

From there, either Troy Aikman, Bob Lilly, John Mackey, Jerry Rice, or Johnny Unitas.

My two favorite golds are Mike Ditka and Willie Wood. Ditka is a dominant blocker, the most sure handed receiver in the game, and a threat after the catch all rolled into one ugly package. Willie Wood is the Ed Reed of APF 2K8. He catches everything thrown at him and is a threat to take it to the house every time he touches the ball. Plus, he's a great return man. Both of these guys give you top notch talent at their positions coupled with versatitlity and value.

All my favorite golds are on defense. I change my teams too often to have a favorite consistent pairing, but my short list includes:

                  Rod Woodson
                  LeRoy Selmon
                  Randy White
                  Jack Lambert
                  Dick Butkus

I like to do it balanced usually, or 2 gold on D.

                    Jack Lambert and Dan Marino

                    Deacon Jones and Mike Ditka

I've had most my success with solid talent in my defensive front 7. I can make things happen with nothing on offense if needed and can call safe coverages that hide holes in the secondary. It is really hard to hide bad front 7 play against a good runner in my opinion. I also like having a good ILB that can play the deep middle hot-routed zone in a cover 2 especially. Not having that makes calling cover 2 a really hard choice.

My favorite gold players, in no particular order are

Reggie White, Art Donovan, Emmitt Smiff, Rod Woodson, Ronnie Lott, Walter, Elway, Montana, Otto Graham, 'Train

I usually have 1 of the above as a gold pretty often.
