Re: Any shortcuts to creating a gold star football player with 5 abilities?
I'm having a hell of a time with a few of the achievements.
Take the 5 sacks with a bronze player. I tried the "easy way" in your link, and it's not happening. Even with penalties off, I occasionally get called for offsides. And when I'm not, the QB shrugs me off to get the pass off. Or he hands off to an HB. Or, this is the worst, I had about 10 sacks with one of the bronze LBs, check my stats, and dude has 10 tackles, and 1.5 sacks. Not really sure what's up. I thought if I brought the QB down behind their line of scrimmage while he's still holding the ball, it was a sack, I guess not.
Also the "season records" where the writer of the guide simmed a season with Montana and Rice. Tried doing that, put settings on rookie, quarters at 15 minutes, simmed a season, stats not on par with requirements. Added/subtracted receivers, made the offense 100% legend, still nothing. The closest I came was the option to play the last game of the season and attempt to get Rice 400 yards for just 1 of the 2-3 records. I said to hell with that. I simmed the season about 8 more times with different variables and nothing.
Guess I'll have to get the achievements legit like the 30 I have now were earned.
I'm playing a season now on 3 minute quarters, all-pro difficulty -- just to get the season rushing record with Barry Sanders. So far through 7 games, not one of my opponents has scored a single point. In retrospect this was probably the easiest one to get by "simming" a season and not having to do it. I figured 3 minute quarters was the least amount of time I would have to waste playing boring CPU games but still being able to rush for 132 yards a game x 16.
You really have to work for these achievements. I've been unemployed for a few months but just started a new job today. I came home from work beat and the thought of playing boring CPU games (where CPU can't even score) for achievements sounds ludicrous.
By the time I get the achievements this game will be entirely dead (it'll just be that bgmotors guy sitting in the lobby w/o any chance of anyone else coming in) or a new 2k game will come out.
On a side note, is it "cheese" to create an AZ Cardinals team, but not use their receivers as my Gold legends? I am one of those players that relies on their running game to open up the passing game, and even if I had the really Larry and Anquan out there, I would still find a way to lose without a running back. What if I create one of the Cards running backs and make him a gold, even though it's obvious any golds created for the Cards would be their WRs?
