see i like to control my other safety... well whatever safety is on the side with willie brown and i can sorta play a freelance role depending on who the WR is... i like to let the AI control my stars and let their 'instincts' free...

Yeah, I guess the tactic you use depends upon your stick skills. I need to practice more on D. I've "controlled" Leroy Butler OUT of two passing plays, one for a big 3rd down gain, the other for a TD. Sometimes I think the safest player for me to control is a generic D-Lineman.

Which begs the question, how much can you improve your Silver or Gold player other than positioning or a manual double team? I plan on going with a Gino Marchetti-Art Donavan gold powered D-Line.

Re: Lets talk Defense!

Played my first game using these sliders. I accidentally I had it on 9 minute quarters, so I continued the game after realizing it at the beginning of the 2nd quarter.

I played the Rustlers. I was the "Bolts". I won 19-0, missing two extra points.

1st downs: Bolts-19, Rustlers-5
Total Yards: Bolts-275, Rustlers-75

Bolts
Len Dawson: 10-18, 155 yards, 2 TDs, 1 Int
C.Okoye: 38 rushes, 142 yards (3.7) 1 TD
Lenny Moore-7 REC, 99 yards, 1 TD (Thrown To 11)
Dwight Clark-3 REC, 56 yards, 1 TD (Thrown To 4)

Rustlers
S.Baugh: 9-18, 65 yards, 0 TDs, 4 Ints
P.Horning, 8 rushes, 10 yards (1.3)
Keith Jackson-3 REC, 20 yards

The Bolts had no sacks, the Rustlers had 2. The Bolts did hurry Baugh quite a bit throughout the game.

BOLTS:

GOLD: Art Donavan (DT)
GOLD: Gino Marchetti (DE)
SILVER: Len Dawson (QB)
SILVER: Lenny Moore (WR)
SILVER: Leroy Butler (SS)
BRONZE: Christian Okoye (HB)
BRONZE: Dwight Clark (WR)
BRONZE: Bill Curry (C)
BRONZE: Steve Wisniewski (G)
BRONZE: Leon Lett (DT)
BRONZE: Terry MCdaniel (CB)

RUSTLERS:

GOLD: Sammy Baugh (QB)
GOLD: Paul Horning (HB)
GOLD: Jim Parker (T)
GOLD: Bob Lilly (DT)
SILVER: Keith Jackson (TE)
SILVER: Rayfield Wright (T)
BRONZE: Mike Rozier (HB)
BRONZE: Harvey Martin (DE)
BRONZE: Lamar Lathon (OLB)
BRONZE: Brian Jones (ILB)

Thought I'd get more of a struggle because of my mediocrity and the Rustler's Two Gold advantage. My D-Line (Marcheti, Donavan, Lett) more than matched up against their O-Line of Jim Parker and Rayfield Wright and they had only generics in the secondary against Dwight Clark and Lenny Moore.

Bottom line, they had the Gold advantage, but I had the matchup advantage.

Re: Lets talk Defense!

I'm impressed. In a rematch I lost 14-7.

The biggest disparity was in the stats of the halfbacks from the first to second game:

1st Game:
C.Okoye: 38 rushes, 142 yards (3.7) 1 TD BOLTS
P.Horning: 8 rushes, 10 yards (1.3) RUSTLERS

2nd Game:
C.Okoye: 10 rushes, 20 yards (2.0) BOLTS
P.Horning: 9 rushes, 68 yards (7.6), 1 TD, 4 REC 44 yards RUSTLERS

Horning was the player of the game.

My QB Dawson was sacked 6 times. He was 17-38, 236 yards 1 TD 1 INT.

Lenny Moore had a great game-10 REC for 164 yards, but the Rustlers had an outrageous 15 passes defended to my 1. I have no problem with that stat as my passing was pretty lousy this game.

Does the CPU track your VIP and make adjustments?
