    Editing Generics

I'm sorry if I'm breaking some rule or something by not searching through all of the threads like Sherlock Holmes, but can someone tell me where they are? Any help would be great.

    Thanks in Advance,

    Re: Editing Generics

I am using HxD as my editor, and the first generic on my roster file is at offset 000843E0.

You know they are generics on your team when you see the "84" as the first number in the blue strip before the facial structure.

Change the "84" to a "05" and they can be edited just like any other CAP.

        Re: Editing Generics

When you mean generics, are you referring to the players with no-stars? If so, since generics are randomly assigned, wouldnt editing one of them somehow edit all of them?

          Re: Editing Generics

Generics are randomly assigned but not randomly generated.

They are real players in the roster file just like legends and other CAPs.

Once you change the "84" that represents a generic player on your team to a "05," you can edit them just like any other created player.

One thing I just thought of, it should now be possible to say once and for all whether all generics at each position are the same. I don't think I've seen anyone say it though.

Generics are definitely not rated the same.

You can simply look at the attribute strip (pink color at the bottom) for all the generics on your team at the same position and see those players' ratings are very different from each other.

I didn't think they were, but a number of people in the past had believed they were I think.

                  Re: Editing Generics

SO how does this HEX editor work exactly?

Are you telling me that we can create Full NFL Rosters now?

                  Also

Can you make these changes in the game itself? Or do you have to do it on the computer and then load it into the game somehow.

Sorry, I'm a noob with this kind of editing stuff haha

                    Re: Editing Generics

Full NFL teams can be made. Most of the editing is done inside a PC hex editor.

There will a detailed guide up soon, so keep an eye on the APF section for it.

For a taste of what can be done with the editor, you can download the 2010 Lions team I posted in the roster section. I have not gotten into editing logos and team names yet, but editing players is pretty simple.

Yeah the generics are edited. There are a few special teams guys that are still normal generics.

I'm working on v2 of the Lions roster that will get rid of the remaining generics who are showing up on special teams.

pardon my ignorance, but how are full NFL rosters possible when we still can only create 8 teams per roster file? is this a matter of having 3 or 4 roster files with 8 teams a piece? (forgot how many NFL teams their are)

i was thinking it was a matter of editing the CPU teams already in the game, but those can't be used by humans. even if you start a CPU v/ CPU game with them and try to pause the game and switch a human controller into a CPU team it wont allow you.. weird

There are 32 teams in the game. 8 are user controlled while the other 24 are CPU teams. Since we can now edit CPU rosters, logos, color palettes, names, and soon, uniforms and maybe playbooks, it's possible to create a NFL roster. The only drawback would be that you could only play with 8 of the teams. That's fine with me though since I only play with a couple of teams anyway. I mean if you're not a Buffalo Bills fan, are you really going to play with them? Multiple rosters will have to be made to accommodate people with different preferences.
