I am going off of one of the blogs I read recently and have purchased APF 2k8. Any tips you guys could lend would be great. Also, what should my expectations be? How are franchise modes? Are there franchise modes?

No franchise mode, just a season. I got the most out of APF 2k8 (and just recently bought it again) by accepting what it was. I don't try and recreate NFL teams or college teams or anything like that. I create a team of greats from scratch and play out the season games as a fantasy world of great players. The gameplay is the real star and how you use your legend players with their skills makes each game different. Whether you load up on receivers and a stud QB or have a devastating defense it is up to you. The AI is also quite good if you can get the right settings going.

It's easier now to create an NFL team now with Hex & Flynn's editor.

The appeal of this game is mostly in creating teams, trying different builds, and matching them up against friends' teams.

The multiplayer is great, and online servers are still up.

Passing game is also WAY more advanced than Madden's.
