New APF Mod Project

Hello everyone! Most of you, like myself, are always searching for an alternative football experience then what the clowns at EA can offer. Sadly, the last decent alternative was APF 2k8 which aside from being a solid gameplay experience, always left something to be desired in terms of its single player CPU teams, uniforms, names and overall team balance. The CPU teams are lackluster at best and make the season mode go stale, very quickly.

Then we figured out how to Hex edit the game and was blessed by RateSports and his awesome NFL 2k mods. Now although I love playing as my favorite NFL team, the real draw of APF for me is in the creation process. Making my team play to match the vision I have in my head, etc..

I have begun work on designing a "mod" (roster file) that will update APF to a new-improved version. The planned features are listed below. This is still in the planning phase so nothing is set in stone as I am still a little unsure on what can be accomplished via hex editing etc.

APF 2k15
- Complete re-design of CPU teams. Including uniforms, colors, name, location, team identity and legends.
- Re-distribution of Legends on each team. More parity, variety and competition among CPU teams.
- More Legends! (Deion Sanders, Lawrence Taylor, Jim McMahon, Jim Brown..etc)
- Re-Balanced legends. (This does NOT mean nurf!) Simply to make more legends viable so that when someone needs a Silver QB they dont only pick Cunningham for example. More options.
- 16 (or more) CPU Teams with specific identities for more diverse gameplay.
- Slight changes to global attributes at an attempt to fix some things from vanilla (lack of pass rush and fumbles for example)
- Any and ALL changes would be to maintain the original games integrity as much as possible as well as making gameplay as sim and realistic as possible.

Now to the point of this thread. First and foremost, I would like to know what the reception for such a mod would be. Would you fellas be interested in playing something like this? Would it help add life into APF as to maintain a football option outside of Madden?

More importantly, I am looking for a few people to help during this process. Truth be told, I am not yet familiar with Hex editing and its actual use. So mainly I will be looking for someone to help on that side of the ball (pun intended). I could also use someone to help with planning out the teams, uniforms and legend re-distributing etc. Although I have a lot of the frame work done.

Please only say you are interested in helping if you are genuinely motivated to do so. I am looking for people to actual help and not just be dead weight. And if enough support is there, turning it into a community project of sorts.

Anyway, thanks for your time everyone. And I hope to hear back from some of you in the coming days/weeks. Sorry for the long read. I can get carried away

This would be cool.

The one thing I wish someone would do is fix the the uniforms in Season Mode. The default uni's are so awful.

I don't want fake NFL, never did. I want a non-NFL game to be a non-NFL game.

Nice plan, but, except for adding high helmet tackles to the 2K editor (if FlyingFinn gets around to it), I believe all that can be done has been done. Some talented people have already looked into doing more but came up empty.

From my understanding, everything I want to do has been done in different ways.

This project mimics what RateSports did with NFL 2k14. It simply comes down to making changes to teams and legends.

Did I mention something specific that makes you feel it cant be done? Thanks for your concern and support up to this point guys.

Re: New APF Mod Project

You wouldn't be changing names in Finn's editor anyway. You'd have to do it by editing the Hex in a manual way.
