Tennessee Titans: Season 2

Welcome Titans fans to Season 2

Start of a new season, where the Titans come off a 10-6 record last year, losing the Wildcard Playoff game at home against the Raiders.

The off season brought about some changes, first with the Titans not resigning Jake Locker and moving forward with Zach Mettenberger as QB.

In FA the Titans brought in Darius Heyward-Bey and worked to bring home PacMan Jones. Both of those signings help to shore up the CB and WR positions. They also decided to retool the kicking group, bringing in Josh Scobee.

Draft time, Titans looked at picking best available players with the 22nd pick. This was a draft for few needs, so picking the best talent would work. With their 1st rd selection they took Dominick MnKnight, OLB from Nebraska. Draft experts considered this a steal, and expect McKnight to be a future star in the league.

After picking for other needs, the Titans decided to shore up their WR core with their 6th rd pick, taking Mylan Burch, a 6'3 speedy WR from BYU.

Preseason Titans finished 3 and 1, Rookie OLB McKnight looked impressive, and might be supplanting Derrick Morgan as the starter

Next Week 1 at Home against the Miami Dolphins

Re: Tennessee Titans: Season 2

WEEK 1(0-0) At Home against the Dolphins

Final Score Titans 24 Dolphins 10

First game of the season, and the Titans wanted to start the season off right. Justin Hunter picked up where he left off last season from his injury, grabbing 7 catches for 107 yds and a TD. Wright, after signing his new extension also grabbed a TD. Bishop Sankey reaffirmed his role as the starting RB, with 25 carries for 116 yds. Mettenberger looked poised, throwing for 3 TDs with only 1 INT.

The big surprise was the rookie OLB Dominick McKnight, as he sacked the Dolphins QB 3 times, with a Forced Fumble. Is this a start to his DROY award?

Coach George on the game "This was a great way to start the season, a good win at home. Next week we face a big challenge on the road"

Next week, a visit to Indianapolis to face the rival Colts

WEEK 2(1-0) a visit to Indianapolis to face the rival Colts

Final Score Titans 21 Colts 17

Week 2 matchup against the Colts, but this was not the same rival Colts. Luck was out due to injury, as Keenum started in his place. It was a tough battle, as Keenum was able to keep drives alive on 3rd down, while Mettenberger was having trouble finding a rhythm.

The game was back and forth in the 4th qtr, as the Titans took the lead with only a minute left. Keenum was able to drive down the field, but was finally sacked for the 6th time on the final play. Hunter added in another TD catch to his belt, while rookie WR Burch caught his first one of his career.

Coach George on the game "This was a great win on the road, against our biggest rival."

Next week, a visit to Buffalo to face the Bills

Final Score Titans 31 Bills 21

Week 3 matchup against the Bills, Mett started looking like a a natural at QB. He was able to shake off an early pick 6 to finish the game with 3 TDs. He was spreading the ball well, as the WR Corp of Hunter, Wright and Burch all had a TD.

The defense was able to force 2 INTs, and the Titans were able to control the game for the W.

Coach George on the game "This was another nice road win, and is giving us a great start to the season."

WEEK 5(4-0) a trip to Carolina to face the Panthers

Final Score Titans 21 Panthers 26

Mett had his best day as a Pro yet, shaking off 2 INTs to finish the game with 366 yards and a TD, but it was not enough, as the Titans received their 1st loss of the season.

Hunter went off, catching 12 balls for 159 yards, but no TD, which would have helped to seal the win. The final drive to score, the Titans just couldn't punch it in the endzone.

Coach George on the game "Tough, tough loss on the road, especially when we were right there at the end."

Re: Tennessee Titans: Season 2

WEEK 6(4-1) at home against the Falcons

Final Score Titans 35 Falcons 6

This was a rout. Mett threw 3 TDs, throwing to that group of Hunter, Wright, and Burch again...while Sankey rushed for 2 TDs.

The defense was a force, tallying up 9 sacks, 5 from Hali. Is he showing that he deserves that final big contract?

Coach George on the game "This is the type of game you love to give to your home fans, one where the game is never in doubt. Both offense and defense showed that this team is quite possibly a Superbowl team. Nice recovery from a tough loss."

Next week, a visit to New Orleans to face the Saints

Re: Tennessee Titans: Season 2

WEEK 7(5-1) a visit to New Orleans to face the Saints

Final Score Titans 23 Saints 17

Was a battle in New Orleans, as both defenses were controlling the game, keeping both offenses from getting good field position. The Titans were able to play thru that though, as Justin Hunter had another great game, with 8 catches for 126 yds and 2 TDs.

Coach George on the game "This was a great road win for us, and shows that this team can be a force in the league. Even if you're at home, the Titans are not a team you want to play."

Next week, bye week, then a visit to Kansas City to face the Chiefs
