Re: The All-Underused Team

Man Sweetness is my boy. I've tried OJ, Sayers, Sanders, and Allen. Always end up falling back to Walter (although Gale and OJ were pretty good too). He just fits my running style.

Thanks. I've had the opportunity to try some of them, but not all. It's pretty fun and adds some spice to the game.

Elaborate. After months of playing this game nonstop, I'm finally figuring out what my offensive and defensive styles are (call me slow, it's fine). How do you use him--what types of sets, play calls, preferred moves? I ask because I find that this makes a tremendous difference, as well it should, in the performance of individual guys. Allen, for example, whom I used for a long time was a great back to creep to the line with and slash through a hole--he just dusted guys with his cuts.

Re: The All-Underused Team

Tony Canadeo - Silver RB.

He only has "Return Specialist", but he's amazing. I basically found out about him because he ran over me when I played vs the CPU team he's on.

I decided to try him out, and I'm convinced that there are more to players than just their abilities and star level - like hidden attributes we cannot see. Because I can't see why a silver RB with Returns as his special, is just as powerful as any gold RB with strength or power....

I half the time I run out of shotgun sets, and the other I run out of I sets. In the I, Eric Green (bronze TE, bulldozer) as my full back. Stretches, powers, screens, and tosses. For the most part, I'm trying to get him isolated one on one with a defender. From there, I will either stiff arm, shoulder charge, or (rarely)spin. Then, I just tap the boost and run away. Once the guys are chasing me attempting to tackle me with the angle, thats when you scissor kick. It pretty much just breaks the tackle, and hurls Walter into a different direction.

Oh yeah, there's all kinds of stuff under the hood here. Chris Warren and Lenny Moore being just two of the examples discussed in this thread at some length. It's one of the best parts of the game, I think. I had shied away from Canadeo because I don't think he's that big, and I don't know anything about his playing days, so I'm not sure what he does well and what he doesn't, but that's very interesting to know.

Another silver back that I never use but got torched by is Charley Trippi. My brother threw him on a team, and he ate me up. He is VERY quick--great spin move. And he's got very good speed and acceleration--not the sort that Sayers has, but just a little bit less. If you get him one on one, you've got to have good stick skills to hang with the moves.

Say more about Canadeo if you get the chance.

Trippi ate me up in the season, but I gotta stick with OJ/Gale. They hit the hole then BOOM! (john madden impression) they're gone.

Re: The All-Underused Team

Sayers is lightning (and being a Raider fan, Madden impressions are always appreciated).. You absolutely have to get him within two yards of the line, otherwise, he just outruns everybody. I just had a lovely game against him, though, where I beat the guy 31-7.

Trippi is close, and a better value. I may have to give him a try.
