MrJordan's Historic NFL Teams POST PATCH File For Download (Xbox360)

Ok I know you guys have been asking for this...
Special thanks to RaiderKtulu for old school NFL logos and endzones and gjsii13 for the newer ones. EvilIam for testing a bit, and NYeph1 for our phone conversation...

Also thanks to
FlyingFinn for the editor!!!

It's V1 because I know after getting feedback, tweaking will be needed, but I have succeeded in getting a strong running game as well as getting speed rusher sacks off the edge. Great defenses are hard as nails and weak defenses can be had. Great running backs are amazing and great passing games are tough to stop. Realism is the key.
Feedback appreciated.

1985 Jets
1979 Oilers (in the Texans slot)
1984 Dolphins in the Seahawks slot
1973 Bills in the Panthers slot

Apologies to Seahawks, Panthers and Texans fans.
Personal choice to include Marino's Fins, OJ's Bills and Oilers in place of those. Also personal choice not to duplicate teams that I or Capa (A great historic roster maker who came before me) have already created / rated for ESPN 2k5.

RATINGS
based on http://www.pro-football-reference.com
All players created and rated, with extra players (4 TE, 4 FB, etc) taken from nearby seasons.

The testing mode I used is:
MEDIUM
AVERAGE FORM
CUSTOM
NO ROUTE DISPLAY/STEERING OR PLAYER HIGHLIGHT

For testing purposes, and for realism, I tried to remove my sticks skills (or lack thereof) from the mix.

On offense, I always played as the player, with the "ask coach" to give me plays and pick one play out of the 4 that seems to suit the team best. I actually enjoy playing as the QB and handing the ball off.

On defense, I play as the free safety to give the CPU a good chance to run and they should average 4 ypc on average.

So this gives you a CPU vs CPU type matchup (as close as anyone can get) to tell how teams really play as the CPU.
I play as a player, not as a coach, so if coach calls a run play, I run it, He calls pass, and I pass it, punt and i punt it, etc...

On offense, I try not to run outside too much and i consider fatigue in the RBs (play sim- don't give the RB the ball 6 times in a row because that is not realistic). I try to run inside usually because its somewhat easier outside, but again don't run the RB more then 2-3 times in a row because that's not how a real team would play)

REMEMBER TO HOLD RIGHT STICK DOWN AND HOLD RT WHEN CATCHING TO AVOID DROPS POST-PATCH.

Enjoy.
thanks,
MJ

awesome!
gonna load it up and give my 76 Raiders a try.

Unfortunately they did not have great RB's.. would of loved to have the 83 Raiders with Marcus Allen, or early 90's Raiders with Marcus and Bo in the same backfield.. now that was a 1-2 punch!

will provide some feedback.. thanks!!

Mark van Eeghen 1012 yds, 4.3 ypc
Clarence Davis 114- 516 yds, 4.5 ypc

Re: MrJordan's Historic NFL Teams POST PATCH File For Download (Xbox360)

just played Raiders (me) vs Bucs.. love the old orange bucs colors

the game defiantly plays different.. I will give you that.
and I got destroyed!
The Bucs ran and passed all over me. I could barely stop them.

I am liking the amount of pressure vs being able to run the ball. I think you are on to something here.
Running felt good.. I was able to run, and got stuffed at times.. and even got in with some pressure also a few times on defense.

But my biggest complaint though is that Ken Stabler was wildly inaccurate. If I threw any kind of bullet pass, it was way off target, and even wide open receivers were missed on standards throws.. it was brutal.

Stabler couldn't hit the side a a freakin barn..
I will try some other teams next, and see what kind of results I get.. but Stable definitely needs a ratings boost.

but I can tell you put a lot of work into these ratings.. the game certainly plays different!
thanks again

thanks man, I appreciate it. The Bucs were a GREAT defensive team, ( Allowed 237 points (14.8/g), 1st in the league), though weak offensively. That could explain Stabler's skittishness. The Raiders meanwhile had a weak pass defense, so that probably allowed the Bucs some passing room.

Please tell me what settings you played on, and please post stats!!!!

Try Stabler against another team and let me know more specifics, so i can dig in for V2...if he needs a boost, no problem, he will get it!
thanks,
MJ

Re: MrJordan's Historic NFL Teams POST PATCH File For Download (Xbox360)

I had some accuracy issues with Simms against the Eagles last night, where he'd overthrow receivers running routes towards the sidelines. I had some success running the ball, but it wasn't great by any means (20 carries, 46 yards). However, I realized I was running the ball the way I had been before (holding RT and the right stick down), which is no longer necessary, so I was able to get some 4-6 yard runs up the middle once I stopped doing that!

It definitely plays different, and there was certainly alot of work put into it, great work thus far!

Hi mj sorry for taking forever to get back w/you.heres my thoughts. The running seems good but guys like barry sanders can break long runs on hard very easy on hard i can i mean. The one thing weird is i noticed the wr's and cb's have 50's spd and run in slow motion compared to say derrick thomas.I know you made stars fast so they stand out which is awesome but the wr's and cb';s need at least 75 plus spd.75 being for slow guys.I think this rosters has tons of potential if that is addressed.Remember in the nfl wr's and cb's are generally and have always been the fastest position on the field.I know your stars at these positions are fast enough but if i have say 58 spd as a db and im against rice he can run past me and be open everytime.
