Before I begin, I should note that I realize the iPhone app won't be a 100% accurate representation of what to expect in the final release for 360/PS3.

With that out of the way, I see this game going the same way as Blitz: The League and APF 2k8. The game will be enjoyable and there will be some great and redeeming qualities about it. I think it will provide an alternative, new, fresh football game for those burnt out on Madden. I also think it will get old and there will only be a small following that plays this game for a good length of time.

The tackling physics look like they will be something fresh, but I have a feeling most of the hits will have players ultimately "going limp." It seems once the intial contact is made, the person being tackled doesn't fight to stay up. Very reminiscent of "rag doll physics" as you've seen in other games, I hope this isn't what will amount to this game gimmick. It doesn't seem like it has lasting power if the game is simply players just taking hits.

Thoughts? The game seems to have a decent enough following but of that following I've seen some highly unrealistic expectations.

Dude, I 100% agree. I've played the game a ton on my ipod touch but you nailed all the worries and concerns that I think people who don't have the app won't ever see coming when they rush to buy this. There's going to be a LOT of disappointed folks when they buy this title IMO. That is, of course, if the app is representative of the game.

I think it will have some sizzle and show off some good technological power...but I just do not see it being refined and deep enough game play wise to have much staying power, as a initial..1st time at football release.

If the Backbreaker team is commited to developing a sound, competitive football game on a annual basis, and this is the 1st building block towards that goal, then I really give them a chance; because at least they are showing some exciting innovative ideas.

I expect this game to pretty much be what the first next gen Madden was like. Pretty much a demo that has basic gameplay, and shows what can potentially be developed down the road.

The fact they dont push or fight to stay up will be an issue. If guys are expecting this game to be perfect they are simply stupid. I feel since its their first year i will cut them a huge break on lots of things, but not the on-field football. As long as the game plays to the chess match of football, i will look past many things during their first attempt.

One thing to note, the iphone app is not using the physics engine that will be used in the console game for obvious reasons.

I am going to be the same way.But on there 2nd try I am going to judge the game alot harder.

I agree with what's been said. I think people who have high expectations (like a lot of the people watching this game) will be let down.

It's a first try so there will be hits and misses. But like I've been saying from the beginning, there are just some things that aren't going to look like football because of the system. It will look more natural but there will be criticism for some things not looking like movements a football player would do (you can already see some of that now). Football is such a difficult sport to recreate because there are so many little nuances that have to be accounted for and if it's off just slightly, people who know what football is supposed to look like are going to rain down on it hard. Of all the types of games, I honestly think Football game developers have it the hardest. The margin for error is just so incredibly slim.
