Well this just makes no sense. If APF sold more then NHL2k8, why did they end the series but decide to keep the NHL2k series? I understand that paying the hall of famers would cost a good amount but they still could have went with generic players and still sell about the same number of copies, especially if they added a good franchise mode and what not. Am i missing something? Oh well its to late now.

Here is the actually total sales breakdown for Madden 08 and All Pro 2K8. The number in parenthesis is the game's all-time sports game rank:

Madden 08 XBOX 2.42 million (40)
Madden 08 PS2 2.20 million (49)
All Pro 2K8 XBOX 250,000 (545)
All Pro 2K8 PS3 130,000 (749)

Madden 08 TOTAL* 4.62 million
All Pro 2K8 TOTAL 380,000

The total sales does not even include 940,000 sold units for the PS3.

You might have mentioned that. On the other hand you put it in a context that it had a lot of sales. Since when is a Top Five 2K Sports game in a given year a big deal? Did they have 5 sports titles that year?
