PROS

Besides Euphoria which is the game's biggest selling point. It's nice to play a whole new style of football game that has an engine that respects physics and player awareness.

The biggest selling point for me is the depth and long term playability of Backbreaker. APF failed in my book because of the lack of user freedom and the lack of playable modes.

In Backbreaker, You have the freedom to create and edit all your teams and players. You can edit and create what ever you want. Very user friendly where in APF, You were limited in naming the players on your roster and naming your teams.

APF lacked franchise. Not only does Backbreaker have franchise modes. It has two seperate franchise modes. You also have tackle alley, spilt screen, multi-player, arcade, online etc....These are the reasons that I pre-ordered Backbreaker.

I love the new look and feel to the game. I am happy that this game didn't try to copy Madden or 2K's games. The camera view looks great now and this is going to be a fun and challenging game to play.

CONS

Hard for me to get over the player models. I hate them. It's good that there are multiple buildss for each position and player but I am not a fan of the body armour and visor look of all the players.I understand why the developers did it but I don't like the look.

No injuries and fatigue. Two key components in real football that have yet to be done right in football video games. Even though each roster needs up to 37 players minimum because of all the different basic football formations. It would have been nice if injuries and fatigue could have implemented in Backbreaker without effecting the gameplay. The makers claim that because this is a new engine being used for football that it would have hurt the gameplay to have those features in now.

The non license certainly effects sales, interest and product awareness but as a hardcore football fan and gamer. The non license is a blessing in disguise because it gives mt the user, the freedom to create any team or any league that I want. I can play with NFL teams, I can play with NCAA teams, I can create and play with NFL legends teams. I can create and play with CFL,USFL,XFL,UFL and even high school teams.

Long term playability is the key. I hope that the gameplay is good. It won't be perfect but I am betting that because of euphoria that there will be elements of greatness in this game.

I will give my pro's/con's

PROS:

+ Camera Angle. From what I can see I will love this perspective. I Love first person football in the old 2k games. If anything it will provide a nice challenge.

+ Physics

+ Customization

CONS:

- Level of immersion. Will there be any?

- A.I. will be a tough row to how.

I am excited for this game. Nice change of pace.

pros:
-immersive camera angle
-true qb vision implementation due to camera
-endless variety in game, and every game
-new take on football, new franchise, no old/bad history to draw on
-deep customization better than apf2k8
-nice graphics/stadiums scale
-game appears to have some personality

cons:
-NO FATIGUE/INJURIES
-no announcing (i understand why tho but just used to having it)
-not a nfl style schedule/playoffs structure?!?
-generic ppl, although im sure we'll find a way to create nfl/ncaa and share
-stiff qb dropback and some of the juke animations
-alot of deep details/stuff is still unknown this close to launch

My fears stem from lack of information. Common sense tells me that companies promote their strengths and omit their weaknesses. I've promoted and sold products for years already. I promoted a product in where many people did not like caffeine in it. It had caffeine. What did I do? Not talk about caffeine.

Backbreaker never boasted about sharp AI. They have boasted solid gameplay, and maybe they just don't know it's important to say what I'm listening for. I hope that's the case. Once NM said there were basic functions to a game missing, it really leads one to believe that many other basic functions are missing too. Why wouldn't they be? Those may be the only ones they were forced to admit.

Our expectations may be unrealistic at times. I think they are in a tough position as a whole because they are bringing in an ultra-realistic engine (euphoria) and because of that I think many people are going to expect ultra-realism in every aspect of the game, including ones that don't apply to Euphoria. Examples of this are: blocking animations, throwing animations, juking animations, pass rush moves, kicking animation, catching animations. There's a lot of places where I think Euphoria does not apply and because of that we can't expect that same ultra-realistic result from them.

What happens when you combine the mo-cap and ultra realism?

eveyone keeps questioning about the AI.

We don't know a ton about the AI. But i did read an interesting bit.

It described how the "switching player" on defense works. Since the camera follows the player, it could easily be disorienting when switching. So the devs programmed a system thats always running in the background, that predicts which defensive player is expected to make a play based on what the offense is doing and where the defensive player is. This program is continuously calculating during the play, so its dependent on whats actually going on, it takes into account who is being blocked, who can see what, proximity ect. Bottom line, it isn't just a "nearest player" system, its one that takes into account if the player is actually able to make a play.

The point is, we know the AI is self aware, and we know the game can read how aware they are. Since gameplay has been "hammered down" for months, and the camera a little less than that, the only thing the devs have been working on for a long time now is AI fixes and debugging.

What it means is you'll get switched to DB's every play.
