They had some planned downtime coming up for the retail release, I don't remember if that was today or not.

If Madden really did something like this, and forced them into a situation where they had to crackdown on people who posted created NFL teams, I'd be incredibly 'ticked' off.

If Madden really did something like this, and forced them into a situation where they had to crackdown on people who posted created NFL teams, I'd be incredibly 'ticked' off.

It'd have nothing to do with Madden, or EA, it'd be the NFL that would pursue copyright violations. If you don't defend your copyrights they lose their value. Allowing exceptions opens the door to others to do the same.

But how would they know what we named the teams. We can name the Packers Green Bay Pack no copyright.

More than likely it the NFL would be the one protecting it's intellectual property, not EA.

NFL, Madden? Same thing.

Rich and greedy organizations that will do anything to get their way. I could care less who's behind it (if anyone at all, could just be server maintenance) it still makes me equally as mad.

The Google Cache shows the Forum Downtime mention in the announcements section of the website - http://webcache.googleusercontent.co...&ct=clnk&gl=us

You'd think maybe that'd be a good time for the official twitter stream or facebook to mention the downtime.
