Good Job on Backbreaker for first attempt!!!
I feel like 505 did a good job for there first attempt. I mean Rome wasn't built in a day, but I think the key is building on it and improving. I still feel like All Pro was a great first attempt, but unfortunately 2K didn't keep working on newer All Pro Football games. But I also realize this is now a Billion Dollar business and if the revenue isn't coming in from this game, then we might not see another one and done football title. But overall, I'm really happy with the game and it will get a crazy amount of play from me.Tags: None -

I believe im going to buy this game for two main reasons. I think that if we show some support to this company, it will go a long way in drumming up some competition for Madden, which will hopfully encourage them to improve for next year. Also, ive spent a lot of money on Madden for a number of years and havent been overly impressed, so why not give this game a shot.Comment

Re: Good Job on Backbreaker for first attempt!!!
This imo was a horrible first attempt. It feels like a completely unfinished game. The game is missing very basic features. They should have waited to release the game. No matter how well the game plays, it's missing way too much.Comment

What's "Horrible" about it? I know it's not perfect, but I think you have to go into the game with an open mind and not comparing it to 2K or EA.Comment

Re: Good Job on Backbreaker for first attempt!!!
My fervent hope is that the existing game is moved to an American developer next year. The Brit's lack of knowledge of the game is very evident in this game and I'm not sure I believe they are capable of bringing it up to speed regardless how many years they get.
It's a fun game, great change-of-pace, but there's no way it'll be my primary football title this year (pretty sure that'll be NCAA).There are two types of people on OS: Those who disagree with me, and those who agree.
The first kind is wrong. The second is superfluous.

I am glad to see some new blood in the competition. I hope that's a sign for the future, regardless if this franchise continues. There's money to be made on football fans...keep making games for them!Xbox Live Gamertag: CreatineKasey

Exactly it's about competition, and it's just nice to see a new football game out. I don't care about NCAA or NFL licensing, it's about the freaking game of football.Comment

I'm not really sure I agree that it was a good first attempt, but I'm extremely happy they did bring it to us, and theres many positives. I'm hoping this game see's a huge change next year. Some of the things in this game are simply amazing(graphics, physics, helmet customization tool, etc). Sadly, for me the bad was far greater then the good. .
For those that have read my posts know I want nothing more then choices of football games. I want BB to do well.Comment

Re: Good Job on Backbreaker for first attempt!!!
I honestly think the people saying it wasn't a first good attempt were expecting too much. People have to realize that all the other sports games on the market have had years to gather feedback and make improvements each year. The devs for Backbreaker haven't had that chance yet.
I don't think it's even possible in the first iteration of a sports game to not have a good deal of problems.
Despite the flaws, I am enjoying the game overall, so in my book it was a good first attempt. My Teams

This game is nothing if not unique. There is an experience to playing this game that is completely different than anything offered. It says something that the A.I. and glitches are so bad (and btw, no NFL license), yet people are still intrigued by this game. I'm hopeful 505 gets the chance to make a 2nd Backbreaker, but we're all well aware of the economic realities of the game industry.
That's not to give them a complete pass, though. This game was not "rushed to market". They had 3 full years of development, and some of the mistakes clearly should have been tested, identified, and fixed. I think it's a little too simplistic to just say "They're British", as if that's the reason for it. British sports don't have any degree of contact like you see in NFL football, yet it's the smashmouth, physics-based aspects that BB does so well.Comment

Re: Good Job on Backbreaker for first attempt!!!
Unlike most here I won't make excuses for a game that costs $50. As a video game its sub par, you look at alot of first time games and they crush this. As a football game I compare games to real life football and that's it. If you compare BB to Madden it's a great game. But if you compare it to real life football it has a long long way to go. Very limited plays, passing system needs some work, no hot routes, a big one for me is no wr motion, wr are way too slow to get into there routes, ect. If expecting these basic things is asking for too much then I guess I was.Comment

Re: Good Job on Backbreaker for first attempt!!!
Don't get me wrong, the game is fun and I'll play it alot with friends (we play every football game to death) but the simplicity of playcalling is astounding.
There are plenty of running plays that are weak or strong but not both, there are very few constraint plays, the inability to flip the run but not the whole play, there's not even a true draw out of the shot gun (the only running play is off tackle, which is the LAST thing you want to do if the defense is spread out)...
And that's just the running game. There are areas of the game that I would give 10/10 but the playbook is probably 2/10.Comment
