no patch? - just release a sequel..

    Hey Guys,

I am not trying to start anything here, but I have to wonder if the company is going to bother patching this game or if they are just going to fix it all for the sequel.

I mean they announced the sequel before releasing the first one. That is what is making me think this. I don't have the game as of yet.

I'm almost 100% certain a patch is in the works. If you check out the official BB forums the devs have dropped quite a few hints that one is in the works.

ahh, cause I was thinking that if they weren't going to patch it and just release a sequel... that would fail...

Yea, I hope they release a patch that will fix most of the problems. I sold my copy. But if the patch fixes the problems I had with the game, I'll pick it up again if I can find it cheap somewhere. Really loved the customization, but that's not all that a football game should be about.

Definitely, if they alienate the small fanbase they currently have by not releasing a patch, then I don't see them doing well in the future. Check out their Support & Feedback forum, it seems they are taking constructive criticism well. I just hope they announce a patch soon, so at least people know its coming and can buy the game knowing some of the glaring problems will be fixed. And in the case of Peregrinity, it may prevent people from selling the game .

With football season not even here yet it would be crazy not to patch.

My prediction is that a fully patched game will be completed and the marketing machine goes in effect around the time NFL season starts. If they don't drop the ball on the patch it should pick up alot of buyers later this year.

            Improve offensive camera
            Fix Sacks
            Fix INT's
            Improve CPU AI
            Improve outside running game

If most of those things are done we've got ourselves a great game.

If they do not release a patch and release another game it probably won't do well and I don't think it is the smartest decision. Releasing a patch and fixing as many issues as possible, will lead to more sales for BB2.

Personally I would be pissed if they didn't release a patch and just released a sequel. After I just spent $50 on a game that I feel has a lot of issues, I would be very reluctant to buy BB2.

This is exactly why I posted at the BB forums why a patch is very important. It will build loyalty and confidence from the consumer. By not releasing a patch many would not buy BB2 because many will know what ever is wrong with the game will just stay and exist with no fix in sight.

This game just needs some minor tuning and all the missing features can wait for BB2.

Better O-line play. Way too many plays both runs and Pass plays being stopped behind the line of scrimmage. sack total is ridiculous.

Penalties being called and called correctly.

Slightly raised camera when passing, which has been confirmed by the lead developer over at the BB forums, so a patch does sound like its coming.

Here is what I posted at the BB forums about the importance of a patch , and if you see the very next poster is the head Developer Todd

Here is the link to where Todd post on what he plans to do with the camera. Just scroll down a little and look for the name Todd

A feel pretty confident a patch is in the works. Todd is very active at the BB forums, and with all the great minds over here I would recommend that you head over there and give suggestions.

I think a patch combined with use of a roster editor that appears to be in the works could get all the glaring issues fixed to a large degree.I don't have confidence that one patch alone will address some things. We need the editor to straighten out issues per position ratings-wise.

A roster editor where ratings can be changed would be tremendous.

No patch fixing at least a few of the easy wins would be a pretty big deal, and if any of the more established franchises came out and said 'we were going to patch but felt we should just make the next game better' it would not fly.

There has to be a patch.

I've never seen a patch that fundamentally changes a game like that. I don't think it's possible. How can a patch all of a sudden allow you to edit things? There would have to be new menu's. the only way I see that happening is a product recall where you get a new disc.

That said, I'm still playing and having a lot of fun.

Same for me. I sold mine on Amazon about a week after I bought. but I'm still interested to see what a patch might improve. Even with a patch, though, I might just wait until the sequel.

Not a roster editor via a patch.Finn is very close to having a roster editor available for download similiar to the 2k5 one.The thread is in the Backbreaker Rosters area.

i agree. they are NOT gonna patch you guys a whole new game. I have not played the game, but based on the feedback I've seen the BB team needs to release a patch. it would be a wonderful sign of good faith towards the folks who bit the bullet and bought a game that they knew would not be great. especially PS3 folks, as the demo has yet to be released.
