Gameplay
- On the defensive side of the ball, add a hit animation and a wrap up function on the controller. Maybe A/X could be hit and Y/Triangle could be wrap up. Hit would be used to engage blockers (linebackers are taught to pop the fullback, locate the ball, and then make the play) Hit could also be used to tackle. The wrap up button would be used after hitting the ball carrier. To prevent him from spinning/driving his way out of the tackle. (see below)
- Make the ball carrier have better leg drive after the initial hit (strength rating or maybe add a new one) As of now, it does not seem like the ballcarries try to fight their way out of tackles. Maybe mash A/X to drive legs, or try to spin out of tackles.
---- The combination of a wrap up function and having offensive continuing to drive their legs after the initial hit would provide an even more organic feel.
- Add a stutter step
- Since this is a physics based game this is gameplay. Add height and weight into the game. With natural motion, Brandon Jacobs (6'4'' 270) would be so much different from Maurice Jones Drew. Who in Madden both break tackles with the same animations.
- Capture better animations for catches, the throwing motion, player stances, jukes, and spins. The throwing motion is one of the worst ive ever seen in a video game.
- Add a few necessary ratings -- Throw power, Throw Accuracy, Acceleration, hands, vertical, etc.
Presentation
- Add the classic football (god view) camera as an option.
- Make the stadium sound better. (crowd, music, etc)
- More cutscenes and celebrations.
---- I would not try and add comentary (i would leave that 2013)
Custimization
- Allow the player to edit all ratings for players.
- More uniform options, more options for socks jumps to mind.
- More equipment for the players. Specifically Facemasks and cleats.
I think it would be very possible for all those things to be added. I would rather have the developers focus on those fixes and then tweak them in 2013 and add a deep franchise mode.
Tell me what you think.
