Re: Backbreaker Patch Details

If anyone is going out to buy this game because of the patch, I'd hope you show the devs your support by buying the game new.

Reason being, Natural Motion, like all game companies, don't see a dime from used game sales.

I'm pretty sure Backbreaker retails for $40 new these days, so you are already saving $20 off the normal price for most sports games.

This game was well-worth $40 before the patch, and it should only be that much better after it.

BUY NEW, NOT USED!

For all you PC Editor fans, this may shut us down:

Online Gameplay

• Reduced online lag slightly
Built in a new protection system against people hacking the game to create a “super team” and taking it online
• Removed the Cancel Stats Posting option as reported by the forum. People were abusing this to avoid losses showing up in their profile
• Fixed a number of other stat posting related issues

On the good side, though, if the patch does what it's supposed to do, there may no longer be a need for a PC editor to tweak the gameplay.

Can you blame them? Super teams are rather bad.

I guess we'll have to wait and see what the protection system is. Encrypted file...bad. If the game just rejects any ratings above a certain number, it could still be ok. People going for accurate NFL teams aren't the ones making "super teams".

I didn't think the game was worth the $40 I spent on it, but I viewed my $40 purchase as an investment into the future of Backbreaker football. It looks that my investment may pay off.

I think everyone (after patch) should buy this game new if they haven't bought it already. If they guys did this much in a patch alone can you imagine what Backbreaker 2.0 is going to be like?

If the patch ends up being as good as it sounds, these guys have a fan for life.

Time to shake things up.

Re: Backbreaker Patch Details

This is an extremely impressive sounding patch. The proof will be in the pudding when the new game comes out. That's essentially what this is. It's like Backbreaker 1 and a half.

The developers really went all out on this patch. The engine is awesome but they released a game that was very raw and bare boned. They were using real physics for the first time ever in a football game and the initial release produced what you might expect.

Credit to the developers for listening to the feedback.

The biggest key to the new game's quality is the artificial intelligence of the quarterbacks and offensive lineman. Looking forward to seeing how the patch does in this area.

You gotta be excited about the 110 new plays added to the playbooks. The new raised camera angles. The fully functional replay system and the user control added to the game for receivers and defensive players.

The game is going to look and feel different. I also like the idea of improved throwing motions and it looks like alot has to be done to improve the overall passing and running experience.

To me, The NFL license is a non factor because I already have all The NFL teams and rosters in Backbreaker. The teams are fully online compatible. No name restrictions whatsoever. The AI is what will make or break the game because the engine is really awesome.
