It started with spring training. A few position battles would make it pretty interesting.

Backup first baseman - Mather wins over Freese
Second base - Schumaker wins over Ryan
Shortstop - Khalil Greene wins over Ryan
Backup third - Barden wins over Freese
Backup Catcher - LaRue wins over madeup minor leaguer
LF - Stavinoha doesn't make the cut and starts off in AAA
RF - Rasmus wins over Duncan
CP - Perez wins over Franklin and Reyes
LRP - Miller is sent down to AAA without any options left and is picked up on waivers by Seattle shedding 2 mil off the books.

It looks like it will be an exciting season. The starting lineup to begin the season will look like this:
