Olidegu's Detroit Tigers (MLB 09 THE SHOW)

Game: MLB 09 THE SHOW
Platform: PS2
Sliders / Difficulty: Default Legend (No house rules)
Rosters: As up to date as possible / will do AAA & AA to best of my knowledge

The way it will go down:
1. Before every series and game there will be a preview and postgame.
2. I want to go in-depth and really immerse myself in one good franchise on here. I always do a few but never follow through. I will follow through on this as HighHeat has inspired all of us I do believe.
3. Full statistical coverage of AAA and AA and not only of the Tigers!

So here to it

"
Tigers come out fighting hard in season opener but get dropped by Jays, 5-4"

OD - The beer nuts were being sold, the beer was being drank and the first pitch was thrown at 7:02PM to start the 2009 season for the Detroit Tigers.

Lets pick this one up in the second were the Jays got on the board first after a ground-out by Scott Rolen scored Adam Lind to give the Jays an early 1-0 lead.

The Jays would not wait to strike long as in their next half inning, they would add three more. After an error by SS Adam Everett, Joe Inglett hit a sharp single up the middle to score Marco Scutaro. The very next batter was Aaron Hill who then drove a 2-1 fastball over the LF fence for his first home run of the year. The Jays lead 4-0 going into the fourth.

Justin Verlander settled down after the third and did not allow the rest of the game. Marcus Thames and Carlos Guillen would both notch RBI's in the sixth to get the Tigers within 1, 4-3.

Sensing a Tiger comeback, Cito Gaston the manager of the BlueJays brought in Brandon League to replace Halladay who went 6 1/3 and was responsible for Laird who hit a single and was moved up by a safrice bunt by Everett. Then Polanco would hit a solid base hit to bring in Laird and tie the game.

Joel Zumaya pitched a scoreless inning and Nate Robertson was brought in for the work. Well it did not work as Robertson would give up two doubles, one by Lind that would score the game winning run.

Robertson picked up his first loss of the year while Brandon League recorded his first win and Scott Downs picked up his first save.

Adam Lind and Aaron Hill both were 2-4 for Toronto while Polance, Thames and Laird accounted for 7 out of the 8 hits for Detroit.

Detroit falls to 0-1 while Toronto goes to 1-0.

Fox Sports Detroit Post Game Coverage of the Detroit Tigers

Today's match-up
Game 2/162

0-1 vs 1-0
@ Rogers Centre
April 7 --- 7:05PM

Armando Galarraga 0-0 0.00 vs. Brian Tallet 0-0 0.00

"
Bullpen falters as Tigers are dropped again, this time 10-4"

OD - The Tigers are not doing things the right way as Jim Leyland mentioned in a post game interview.

The real story of this game was Aaron Hill who went 5-5 with 3 RBI and through two games is batting .778.

Tiger relievers Ryan Perry and Bobby Seay both pitched poor as Seay gave up a run and Perry allowed three. Starter Armando Galarraga went six giving up ten hits and allowing five earned runs.

The offense was working for both teams in this one as both teams combined for 25 hits.

Brian Tallet went six strong innings allowing only two earned runs. It was Shawn Camp who gave up the towering 391FT. homer to Miguel Cabrera.

However, despite how poorly the bullpen has been, the Tigers do have some upsides. Four of its starters are batting .350 or better as of now and the Tigers are being patient and waiting for "pitches" most of the time.

Carlos Guillen was 2-4 along with Maggio Ordonez. 8-9 Tiger's hitters had a basehit.

For the Blue Jays besides Lind, Alex Rios hit his first homerun of the year and Jack Inglett and Marco Scutaro both scored 3 runs apiece.

The Tigers will just have to pick their heads up and get ready for game three of this four game opening series.

Minor League action also starts tomorrow, ay baseball has come to stay for the summer!

Detroit falls to 0-2 while the Blue Jays are now 2-0

Fox Sports Detroit Post Game Coverage of the Detroit Tigers

Today's match-up
Game 3/162

0-2 vs 2-0
@ Rogers Centre
April 8 --- 7:05PM

Dontrelle Willis 0-0 0.00 vs. Casey Janssen 0-0 0.00

"Bullpen falters again and Willis fails to show up as Tigers lose 9-5"

OD - The Tigers are in desperate need of a good outing from a pitcher this year. Does not matter at this point whether it is a good relief appearance or a quality start, the Tigers need a good pitching performance.

SP Dontrelle Willis went 4 2/3 giving up 5ER on 9 hits, walking 5 and not recording a strikeout. In relief for Willis was Zach Miner. Miner gave up 4 runs in 1 2/3 IP.

Jays starter SP Casey Janssen was ok, going 6, while giving up four runs. He did earn the win, his first of the year.

The Blue Jays bats were hot as they knocked out 14 hits, 6 of those being extra base hits.

LF Adam Lind (.538) was 3-4 with a home-run and 4 RBI. The Jays would eventually kill any chance of a comeback for the Tigers with consecutive 2 run innings in the 7th and 8th.

However, on a positive note, the Tigers' DH Marcus Thames and CF Curtis Granderson both hit their first homers of the year. Granderson who was batting .100 coming into this game, went 4-5, raising his BA to .333.

Thames was 3-3 also.

For the Jays, CF Vernon Wells hit a homer (1), and SS Marco Scutaro was an on-base machine yet again, reaching two times. Scutaro's OBP is .545 from the 9 hole.

In AA action, the Altoona Curve defeated the Erie SeaWolves 11-9. Pat Stanley picked up the loss. RP Zach Simons sustained a broken forearm and will be out for 1-2 months in the defeat.

The Tigers now fall to 0-3, while the Jays stand pretty at 3-0.

The rubbermatch is coming tomorrow and will feature Edwin Jackson matching up against Scott Richmond.
