Re: Starting His Road Trip to Fame [MLB 09 RTTS]

just a little tip, doing a box score for every game isnt the best idea spring training/regular season/post=like 210 games. Maybe do what bhurst did like a weekly recap. Just my 2 cents. Keep up the awesome RTTS

Re: Starting His Road Trip to Fame [MLB 09 RTTS]

well, looks like i might have to cut this one short, it wont let me load up anymore of the spring training games.

Should I start over or sim it and see if it will work on opening day?

Spring Ends Strong for Vines, Set to Play in AA
By Dan Smith
AP Sports Writer
Philadelphia (AP) -- While the Phillies barely managed to finish with a .500 record, young Vines finished farely well as Opening day is only days away. He did manage to field better stats fielding and batting average wise compared to Victorino, but Coach Manuels opted to go with the pro rather than the joe and he sent Vines down to the farm to develop his swing. While he recorded 0 errors in 30 games, he also had 0 homers and stolen bases although it has been reported that he has put on some weight and only time will tell if it is muscle or McDonald's. His contract has been reported to be 68,000 over 2 years. In other news, Phillies SP Brett Myers is still out with a broken finger and he is expected to miss a couple of early starts.

Phillies get off to great start
by Chuck Franklin
Reading Post
April 12, 2009 -- The Phillies local farm team got off to a great start to the year as they swept the Harrisburg Senators. The same cannot be said for Lehigh Valley (2-2) and the pro team (3-3). Reading jumped on top of Harrisburg in the top of the 1st when 3B Matt Arnold blasted a walk off home run. Harrisburg wouldn't be able to get any its together and they gave up and looked ahead to the next day. This time it was Harrisburg jumping off to a quick start as the top of the order strung 2 doubles back-to-back, only to have C Morris Anders put them away in the bottom of the 9th with a full count home run. Game 3 was a pitchers duel and a costly mistake by C Trey Rossi when he overthrew 2B Kevin Hicks and SS Major Leslie would come around to score the final run. The Phils will take on the Binghampton Mets at home starting on Monday.

Reading continues winning streak, Vines gets 1st start
By Chuck Franklin
Reading Post
April 16, 2009 -- Is there anything that can stop the red hot Phillies bats? If so you need to call the struggling Senators before the Phils roll through another series! Consistency may be a problem for headliner James Vines as he struggled to keep his bat going on Wednesday, although he showed brilliance by working the pitcher into a 3-2 count and 10 total pitches before driving in 3 runs off his lone double. He then managed to hit the ball thrice to the 2B and strikeout on a curveball below the knees. He was quoted saying, "the team is working together to get more smallball runs than solo shots over the wall. I just need time to get things settled and I think I will be more patient at the plate." The big question is how much longer can they keep it up? The bullpen seems as if they barely sweat while on the mound and the starters have all managed quality starts. They rank 1st in AVG and least strikeouts at the plate and ERA and least runs conceded on the mound.

Subject: Nice Clutch Hitting
The way you handled your self out there was almost perfect. If you keep this up you will be a regular in no time at all. Come to practice early tomorrow and Coach Cacciatore will help you out with breaking balls and developing power.

"Coach, we've been out here for three hours, can I get just a little bit of water?" He looked over only to see the reason he wasn't being answered was because Coach Cacciatore was fast asleep in the Away Team dugout. "Is he always like this?" "Only on off days." said Matt Arnold, Reading 2B, "You'll get used to it in a week or two I suppose." "If he doesn't run me dead that is" "I gotta get ready for practice but me and Wade are going to take some of the team out for drinks, you wanna go?" "Anywhere away from Coach and I'm alright, sure."

Harrisburg defeats dominating Reading in 12th
by Steph Witt
April 12, 2009 -- Tonight looked doubtful in the beginning after the pitch went straight to center field and James Vines stole 2B. Kellenberger did stop the bleeding after only 1 run. The Senators responded with a 6 run 3rd accompanied by 3 Phillie errors. Another run would be added after a solo home run by Hicks in the sixth. The Phillies jumped up quick in the 9th and with 2 outs and runners on 2nd and 3rd, CF James Vines hit a double the opposite way to tie it up. The game went scoreless until back-to-back hits up the middle allowed the Senators to score the winning run. Only one player managed to bat over .500 today, Vines went 4/5 with 2 doubles, 2 RBIs, and a walk.
