Fred Lewis' 9th inning homer lifts Giants past Padres

Fred Lewis hooks a homer into right field to take the lead

Giants- 8
Padres-7

San Diego- In a back and forth, topsy turvy game the Giants came out on top 8-7. The game started strong for the Giants, as Lincecum struck out 6 after giving up 0 runs, but then struggled through the 4th giving up 5 runs, and then giving up another in the 5th. Noah Lowry go his first appearence of the season after being called up to the bigs. He pitched 2 innings, giving up 1 earned and striking out 1.

The game was back and forth from the start as there were 5 lead changes in the game. Definatly not the game t be a pitching coach. 27 total hit berated the game, but only 2 homers (Tony Gwynn Jr., Fred Lewis) from the people you'd least expect to hit one.

Fred Lewis led off the begining of the 9th and blasted a low and inside fastball around the foul pole to take a late 8-7 lead. Brian Wilson came in to slam the door 1-2-3 for his 2nd save of the season.

The Giants will take on the Dodgers tomorrow in LA as Matt Cain will face youngster Clayton Kershaw.

Giants waive Aurilia, sign Sexson

Sexson will be the new first baseman vs. lefties

San Francisco- After Sundays game against the Padres Rich Aurilia was designated for assignment and claimed of waivers by the Seattle Mariners. In response to this, the Giants signed former slugger Richie Sexson who will now be the first baseman against lefties. The Giants made this move to add a little pop to the lineup, as they only have 2 homers to start the season. Sexson will start in tomorrows game against the Dodgers.

Giants get smacked by rivals

Rafael Furcal had 2 homers in today's game

Giants- 2
Dodgers- 8
Los Angles- In the first meeting of the year between these two biter rivals the Dodgers come up on top, and by a lot. Matt Cain struggled hard giving up 4 earned runs in the first inning alone. Rafael Furcal had a big game starting off with a leadoff homer and then capping it off with another homer later in the game.

Kershaw was in control the entire game going 8 strong and giving up only 1 earned run. It seemed like the Giants just couldn't get into a rythm with his funky dilivery.

Aaron Rownad hit his first homer of the year, and Richie Sexson went 0-4 in his Giats debut.

Ginats shutdown again

Randy Johnson made his first start of the season and was smacked around

Giants- 2
Dodgers- 8
Los Angles- Randy Johnson made his first start of the season, and his first start as a giant today. Johnson got rocked early in the game by a 2-run single of of James Loney, then in the 3rd was smacked by Matt Kemp with a 2-run homer.

Not much else to say about this game, Giants failed to hit a homer once again and have now fallen to .500 with a 4-4 record.
