Josh Beckett overcame a two run home run off the bat of Alex Rodriguez in the top of 1st inning after hitting Derek Jeter with an 0-2 pitch to lead the Boston Red Sox to a 3-2 victory over the New York Yankees on Opening Day at Fenway Park. C.C. Sabathia was outdueling Beckett until he ran into trouble in the 8th inning allowing doubles to Mike Cameron and Mark Scutaro. Scutaro also hit a solo home run off Sabathia in the bottom of the 3rd to keep Boston close in the early going.

John Lackey dominated New York Yankees bats going 8.2 innings and striking out 13 as the Boston Red Sox used station to station baseball to defeat the Yankees 6-2 in game 2 of the 2010 season. Jorge Posada in the 2nd and Mark Texiera in the 9th with solo home runs for the Yanks only run production.

Jon Lester continued the Boston Red Sox pitching dominance of New York Yankees bats as the Red Sox defeated their rivals 6-1 to sweep the Opening Day Series and send a statement to the Yankees that World Title #28 will be hard to come by. Lester went the whole way striking out 11 Bombers and got help from the bats with Marco Scutaro and Jacoby Ellsbury both going yard.
