Toronto (AP) -- On a night where pitching could have been in the headlines, it was the Twins offense that did instead. Twins starter Kevin Slowey pitched 6 1/3 innings and allowed just a single run on 4 hits while striking out 4 on his way to his first win of the season. It was a quality performance but the Twins didn't really needed quality pitching on the day. They offense was just a jewel for them. They scored 9 runs off 17 base hits. Not one Jays pitcher couldn't slow down their bats.


Blue Jays starter, young Ricky Romero, started the game with a break but dont bend attitude. The rookie pitcher allowed 4 base hits and walked 3 in his first four innings but didn't give up a run until the 5th. He wasn't particulary effective after as he wasn't able to get past the 5th inning.


The Jays will be back in town tomorrow to start a three game series with the Oakland Athletics. Shaun Marcum will take the mound against Athletics ace Ben Sheets. Marcum has lost his first two decisions of the year, but lets hope he gets a better result this time around.

Toronto (AP) -- Blue Jays starter, Shaun Marcum, did not pitch a beautiful game; but, his work was respectable on the day. Marcum left the game in the top of the 6th inning with his team down by one run, one out, and one man on base. His team had already scored 4 runs, so he knew there was a chance this wasn't going to be his 3rd dropped decision in 3 outings this year. Before Marcum even got time to have a seat in the dugout the Jays bullpen had given up 8 runs to Oakland. "I pitched poorly today, the guys behind me pitched too. This is one game we will have to forget quickly." Marcum said.


The Jays offense played well enough to have won this on any other day. Led by first baseman Lyle Overbay, they scored six runs on twelve base hits. "We didn't play today, actually it was a pretty decent day at the plate for us. We just need to continue hitting the ball the way we have this year and there's no doubt in my mind this will be a successful year for us", Blue Jays manager Cito Gaston said.
