The Seattle Mariners are winners of 2 in a row and look to cap off the 4 game series with a victory in the final game tomorrow night, but tonight they will celebrate a 8 to 4 victory over the Oakland Athletics. Jimmy Rolens and Ramon Hernandez was the players of the day once again as they combined for 5 hits on 8 at bats with 2 runs, 2 RBI's, 1 double and 1 homerun. Seattle hit 5 doubles in the game. Paul Konerko was the only silent bat today, but he can have the day off because he helped score runs in the first 2 games of the series. Alcides Escobar was the lone bright spot for the Athletics. He went 4 for 4 with 2 RBI's in the game.
"Player of the Game"
For the 2nd game in a row Ramon Hernandez is the Player
of the Game. He went 3 for 4 with 1 run, 2 RBI's and 1 homerun
in the game.

The Oakland Athletics split the 4 game series to open up the 2010 campaign over the Seattle Mariners by winning the last game by a score of 7 to 6. It was the perfect scenario in the 1st inning. First 2 men out and the #3 hitter get's on base so the clean up hitter can drive home the run. In this case it was Jim Thome swinging for the fences hitting the 2 run homerun. Seattle clawed back and took a 1 run lead into the bottom of the 6th inning where J. J. Hardy gave the lead back to Oakland on a 3 run homerun. Seattle would tie the game back up 6-6 in the 7th inning, but Rookie of the Year candidate, Austin Jackson broke the tie with a bomb to dead center field for his 2nd career homerun in dramatic fashion. Trevor Hoffman (Pictured Above) would close down the 9th for his 1st save on the season and his MLB leading 592nd career save.
"Player of the Game"
J. J. Hardy came through in the clutch today going 2 for 4 with
an RBI triple and a 3 run bomb to left field giving him 4 RBI's
in the game.

I guess it's not exactly a rival franchise...
but I am doing a Seattle Mariners Dynasty.
Good luck with yours!
Thank you!
I don't have many Mariners on my squad, but I do have Felix. Too bad he is hurt for you. I run with the Mariners in a online league and they are raking for me! 15-3 so far. I went with fantasy draft over posting my real life Brewers because it's not something that is done often so I wanted to go outside of the box this year and I know a lot more of the top prospects than years past and wanted a way to run with most of them and trading for them in a season wouldn't cut it lol...
Stephen Strasburg got his 1st career start and he did not disappoint going 7.2 innings without giving up a run. He struck out 9 Angels batters and scattered 6 hits. The Oakland Athletics offense was on fire scoring 13 runs on 15 hits, but the runs were aided by 3 throwing errors by the Angels defenders. 5 homeruns were hit by Oakland as the ball was flying off the bats tonight. Angels starter Jeff Niemann (Pictured Above) couldn't last 5 innings getting pulled in the 5th after giving up 6 runs with 4 of them earned on just 5 hits given up.
"Player of the Game"
BRUCE!!! Right Fielder, Jay Bruce had a solid game knocking 2
balls into the stands and collecting 4 RBI's. Bruce went 3 for 5
reaching home plate on all 3 of his hits.

Michael Brantley broke his hand in the 1st minor league game of the season and is expected to be out anywhere from 1 to 2 months. Brantley was prepped to be the 1st call up in case of injury at the major league level in the out field and this will be a minor set back if that indeed does happen. The Athletics have opted to place Brantley on the 15 day DL in case it's closer to the month time frame over placing him on the 60 day DL.
Oakland bashed their way to another high scoring game against the Los Angeles Angels winning game 2 by a score of 8 to 4. There was no homeruns hit for Oakland, but 5 doubles and 1 triple did more than enough damage to the home team. Felix Hernandez had a 1 hitter going into the 7th inning. The lone hit was mere inches away from being caught by Jay Bruce (Pictured Above). Hernandez would surrender 2 runs before handing the ball off to James McDonald which got into trouble, but finally got through a scoreless outing.
"Player of the Game"
Angel Salome is one more good game away from becoming the
new starting catcher for the Athletics. The catcher hit a triple along
with a double driving in 2 runs in the process.

Don't play left field for the Sacramento River Cats apparently. Jordan Danks started the 2nd game of the season replacing Michael Brantley in left and strained his shoulder. He will be sitting on the sidelines for 2 to 3 weeks and has been placed on the 15 day DL. Logan Schafer will assume the haunting role of starter and we hope to not see his name under the injury list tomorrow night!
The Los Angeles Angels played a little tougher mainly from starter Derek Lowe, but the errors mounted once again allowing the Oakland Athletics to take advantage and win the game and sweep the series on the road by a score of 6 to 2. A late threat by the Angels was almost enough to at least send this game into overtime. In the 8th inning with the bases loaded after Neftali Feliz walked David Ortiz and 1 out he got Nate Schierholtz to ground out to J. J. Hardy which flipped it over to Everth Cabrera (Pictured Above) to end the inning. Feliz pitched a near flawless 9th inning after the Athletics got an insurance run to finish the game.
"Player of the Game"
Clayton Kershaw had a solid outing giving up 2 runs on 5 hits
with 5 strike outs in 6 innings of work. It is his 1st win of the
season and stands at 1 and 1.
