Playing Under the Arch: A St. Louis Cardinals Franchise

Going to make another attempt at making a franchise after a horrible start to my last one. This time with a team close to my heart the St. Louis Cardinals. Going to do this one from the perspective of multiple media outlets (MLB.com, Baseball America, St. Louis Post-Dispatch, etc.)

Game: MLB 2k10
Games: 162
Rosters: Dzznutz v 1.3
Difficulty: All Star
Sliders: Default
Simulation: Will try to play every game, if not I will play the first couple of games in that series then play the rest.
Trades/Free Agents: The rule I am using for FAs or trades is that it has to be realistic or a deal that the Cardinals are doing in real life.

Enjoy!

Cardinals' Pitchers Report to Spring Training

A look at what the Cardinals' pitching staff has to offer this season.

Jupiter, Fl- As the Cardinals' pitchers arrive in Jupiter, Florida for the start of the 2010 season, they are eager to get back onto the field after a disapointing end to their season. Cardinals got swept by the Dodgers in the NLDS to end their great season.
This year though the Cardinals added Brad Penny, Rich Hill, and others to help with the pitching staff. “I am confident that the moves we made in the off season will make us better at pitching.” said Cardinals manager Tony Larussa. With a great 1-2 punch in Chris Carpenter and Adam Wainwright the Cardinals should be great against weaker hitting teams. Once you start going down the rotation you see a mix of players contending for the 3-5 spots in the rotation.”The 3-5 spots in the rotation are wide open until a couple of players step up and look like the deserve to be in the rotation.” claimed Cardinals pitching coach Dave Duncan.
As far as the bullpen looks like right now it is a mixed bag. It looks like Ryan Franklin will be the closer unless he really struggles in spring training or gets injured. Hopefully this year will be a great year for the Cardinals pitching staff even with the Brewers and Cubs in their division.

The Fourth Spot is bewteen Kyle Lohse, Rich Hill and Shelpy Miller.

Projected Winner: Kyle Lohse

Dark Horse: Rich Hill

Fifth Spot:

The fifth spot is between Rich Hill and Shelpy Miller.

Projected Winner: Shelpy Miller

What Happens to Rich Hill?

Rich Hill will probaly start off the season either in the bullpen or in the minors. If we had to guess it would be the bullpen.
