Giants: Pablo Sandoval (2-4, HR, 2 RBI) (.294, 1 HR, 7 RBI)

Ron Burgundy's Game Notes
Well we almost won two games in a row. I guess a streak was too much to ask for.
Shawn Hill looked great, but the manager kept him out there too long and he ran out of gas in the 8th.
Little Everth Cabrera has no pop, or so we thought. That's two homers recently for him.
Randy Johnson is still looking great after all these years, he hasn't lost much.
We get a chance to leave San Francisco with a split in the next game, then we get to go home and host the Pirates!

Ron Burgundy's Game Notes
We'll take the split! Our offense wasn't overly impressive today, but we kept at it and put runs on the board.
This is the kind of performance we expect out of Niemann more times than not as he starts to develop.
Good to see Adrian Gonzalez get on the board with a big RBI, hopefully his bat starts to come alive.
Heath Bell was able to come in and pitch a scoreless ninth, that's good to see. He needed a good outing.
We go home to host the Pirates now, hopefully we can finally win a series.

Pirates Top Hitters
1. Nate McLouth (.397, 1 HR, 14 RBI)
2. Jack Wilson (.328, 0 HR, 11 RBI)
3. Andy LaRoche (.266, 3 HR, 9 RBI)

Probable Pitchers (Subject to Change)
Ian Snell (2-1, 3.48 ERA) vs. Jake Peavy (0-3, 13.04 ERA)
Zach Duke (0-1, 4.76 ERA) vs. Chris Young (0-1, 9.53 ERA)
Ross Ohlendorf (0-2, 10.54 ERA) vs. Kevin Correia (0-1, 2.53 ERA)

Ron Burgundy's Thoughts
We got back in San Diego last night, and I had a delicious steak a Tino's today to get ready for what I think is going to be a great series against the Pirates. I kid about how bad the Pirates are, but this year they are 8-8, so they may not be as bad as everybody thinks. Our team has started to click in the last couple of days, so hopefully we can notch off a couple of wins in this series. Also, Jake Peavy and Chris Young have been struggling. This Pirates offense could be just what they need to break out of their funks. It's another sunny day in San Diego, I might have to go grab me some afternoon delight before tonight's game.

Ron Burgundy's Game Notes
And that's a winning streak! Two in a row baby!
A very good start tonight by Jake Peavy, I'm so happy to see him back on track after such a tough start to the year.
Nick Hundley is stepping up huge so far. He's already hit four homeruns, we didn't expect much more than that all year from him.
Now that Peavy is back on track hopefully Chris Young does the same tomorrow.
Everth Cabrera swiped his third bag of the year, he gives our offense a legit speed threat.
Cla Meredith is looking very solid as our closer so far this year, I hope he starts to get more chances to close out Padres wins.

Ron Burgundy's Game Notes
Heat wave. A tropical heat wave. Three wins in a row, we are on fire baby!
What a great game from Chris Young. That was a gem from start to finish. He needed that.
This was a classic Petco Park pitchers duel. Good thing we had the better man out on the mound tonight.
Chase Headley was our offense tonight, he drove one in then scored on a wild pitch to give us a one-run win.
Tomorrow we go for the sweep, if we win we doubled our wins for the season in this three game span.

Ron Burgundy's Game Notes
All good things come to an end. We won the series even though we lost this game, I'm proud of our guys.
Kevin Correia looked strong once again for most of the game, but he tired out and the LaRoche's smashed him.
The Hairston/Gerut duo in the leadoff spot is doing very good, vastly outplaying what Eckstein was doing in that role.
Speaking of Eckstein, he's going to be sat for a few games while we give Edgar Gonzalez a shot to start.
Our team is staring to show more positives, I think things are turning around.

Pirates Top Hitters

Jake Peavy (1-3, 8.64 ERA) vs. Jason Marquis (0-1, 7.11 ERA)

Ron Burgundy's Thoughts
We are coming off our first successful series of the year, we took two of three from the Pittsburgh Pirates. Now we are heading into the mountain air of Denver, and we come in with some steam. We are looking to play a little leapfrog and jump the Giants and pull even with the Rockies in this series. After our atrocious start we've looked decent in the last few games and that gives us hope that we will at least be respectable this season. We've also got Jake Peavy pitching in this series, and he had his first real lights out Jake Peavy start last time out, here's to hoping he has another one. Nick Hundley has also been tearing the cover off the ball, if he keeps this up he will prove to be an upper level catcher for us. Now it's time to sit back and enjoy some baseball, and as always, you stay classy San Diego.
