Angels Sweep Tribe; Winning Streak Now 7
Anaheim, CA: The Indians came into this series with 3 straight losses while the Angels came in with 4 straight wins. Something had to give... Right? Wrong. The Angels were clearly the dominant team in this series outscoring the indians 19-7. They did have some trouble in game one as it had to go 11 innings, but Matsui was able to come up clutch again and get a walk-off two run homer to win the game 6-5. Game 2 saw Joe Saunders going a complete game allowing only one run and the Angels provided the necessary offense to get the 5-1 win. Game 3 was not competitive at all. Pineiro had his first complete game of the year and the Angels' offense exploded with 8 runs to blow out the indians and secure the sweep with an 8-1 victory.

Angels Take Series 2-1; Now On Top of AL West
Anaheim, CA: The Angels are starting to look like a dominant club and took their momentum into this series. Although they were unable to win the first game, they were able to rally back and win the last 2 to take the lead in their division. In the first game of this series, the Angels had a 1 point lead heading into the bottom of the 9th, but they were unable to close out the game as Bulger took the loss 4-3. In the second game, Smoltz put together another strong performance and was able to get his 4th win of the season in a great 8 strikeout performance. In the final game, Weaver had some trouble and gave up 5 runs over 6.1 innings, but Jepsen and Fuentes were able to hold the Tigers and the offense came through to give the Angels the 7-6 victory to take the series.

Re: Heaven On Earth: A Los Angeles Angels Franchise
Big Trade Possibly Coming
Anaheim, CA: We have big new for Angels and Giants fans. We have just learned that the Angels have offered starting pitcher Jered Weaver to the Giants for Barry Zito. Both of these guys have struggled so far this year and Weaver asked to be traded after being irritated at the management this year. He said, "I don't feel the people in this organization trust me to get the job done. I am getting removed before I want to when I know I can keep going." The Angels responded by going after a guy that they think they can get turned around and throw right into the rotation. We will keep you updated as we hear the news.
Update: It has been confirmed that the trade has been accepted. Zito is expected to make his first start as an Angel against Boston in the third game of the series.

Frandsen Called Up
Anaheim, CA: Scioscia has seen enough of Brandon Wood and Maicer Izturis at third base. He has decided to bring up Frandsen from AAA Salt Lake and insert him into the number 9 batting spot. Scioscia stated
"We will not just leave someone in the spot if they are not earning it. All of our players need to perform at the level we expect them to perform and if they don't, then they will be sat down. Does this mean they will lose their job permanently? No. If the guy that steps in for them isn't doing their job then someone else will get a chance. Nobody is going to just keep their job because of who they are."
Izturis was only hitting .230 this year.
This also means that Abreu could be facing some trouble if he doesn't pick it up. Abreu has the lowest average on the Angels and their has been some talk that Willits could step in if Scioscia wants to pull the trigger.
