CINCINNATI FANS READY FOR BASEBALL

CINCINNATI, OH-Reds fans everywhere seem to ready for the 2010 to begin. The team had an average spring, but manager Dusty Baker seems high on this ball club. "I think we will be able to put a quality baseball team on the field day-in and day-out. Its all about consistency here in the MLB and this team looks to be the most consistent team I've had since being with the Reds club" said Baker.

We also caught up with former Reds' Hall of Famer and ESPN analyst Joe Morgan to get his thoughts on this years version of the Reds. "It looks like Cincinnati will have a team that they can root for deep into the season this year. They have some solid bats, and a few good starting pitchers. If they can win some games early to get confidence for their younger players, there is no reason that this team will not be able to compete for the NL Central in 2010. The division seems up for grabs with really 4 teams that look to compete for the playoffs this year" Morgan said.

As for what the Reds will look like this season, Baker released the depth chart last night for the opening series against St. Louis. An interesting change from spring training is the movement of the speedy Drew Stubbs from the leadoff spot to the 7 hole in the line up. Taking his place as the leadoff man will be Orlando Cabrera, a newly aquired player this offseason. Baker said of the move: "this move will help us win baseball games early on. Drew is a young, solid baseball player who will be able to see some good at-bats from the lower spot in the lineup. Orlando is a seasoned veteran and we are extremely happy he is on our club this year. He will truly be an asset to this organization, and I feel like he will provide for some RBI's from his leadoff spot."

Below is the Reds defensive depth chart, as well as the opening day lineup Dusty Baker is planning to use.

Re: Together We Achieve | A Cincinnati Reds Franchis

April 5th- Cincinnati Enquirer

OPENING DAY IS UPON US AT LAST
The exhibitions are on exhibit where they belong. Opening Day to the regular season is here and the Reds will take on division rival St. Louis at Great American Ballpark.

Dusty Baker looks to have the club ready for the grueling six-month campaign, and he's giving the ball to Aaron Harang on opening day.

Few questions still remain for the Reds. Who will emerge as the main offensive threat? Will having rookie Mike Leake in the rotation hurt the Reds? The youngster has yet to throw a Minor League pitch. Also, are the playoffs in this teams future?

All these questions and more will be answered in the coming days and weeks. Sit back Reds fans, and enjoy the 2010 season!

REDS SURVIVE 9TH INNING RALLY, BEAT CARDS

CINCINNATI, OH- The Reds took the field for opening day for the 8th time at Great American Ballpark yesterday. The Reds prevailed, beating the Cardinals 3-2.

The scoring got off for the Reds in the bottom of the 3rd, as Ramon Hernandez stood on second and Orlando Cabrera stepped up to the plate. He delivered a single to centerfield to score the first run of the year and give Cincinnati a 1-0 lead. The same situation emerged in the 5th and Cabrera stepped to the plate again, with Hernandez on second base, and again Cabrara delivers the RBI single to give the Reds the 2-0 opening day lead.

Aaron Harang pitched an incredible game for the Reds and left after 8 solid innings of work, surrendering just 3 hits and no runs. Closing pitcher Francisco Cordero took the mound to save the win for Harang. The Cardinals has other intentions, however. After retiring the first batter of the inning, Ryan Ludwick took CCordero deep to right field, and the score was cut in half, 2-1. The next batter, Yadier Molina took a Cordero slider down the left field line for 2 bases, and CF Colby Rasmus was able to knock him in at his at bat. Dusty Baker replaced Cordero with Nick Masset from the the pen, who was able to get out of the inning with the game tied.

The leadoff man for the Reds was Joey Votto, who laced a double down the right field line to kick off the home half of the 9th. With that, Scott Rolen came to bat. He was called on to bunt Votto over to third. He placed the bunt perfectly down the third baseline, just fair, and St. Louis pitcher Jason Motte was forced to play the ball. He fielded the ball clean and slung it to first base. The ball sailed 5 feet over Pujols out-stretched glove, and Votto took home, to give the Reds game 1 of the season.

Tomorrow, the Reds will pitch Johnny Cueto (0-0, 0.00) against St. Louis stud pitcher Adam Wainwright (0-0, 0.00)

Re: Together We Achieve | A Cincinnati Reds Franchis

REDS TEE OFF ON CARDINALS
CINCINNATI, OH-After a one day break, the Reds and Cardinals renewed their rivalry at Great American Ballpark. St. Louis lit up the scoreboard first with a Ryan Ludwick hit that scored Matt Holliday from second. Cincinnati wasted no time responding however, pushing across 4 runs in the bottom of the first inning on two two-run big flys from Joey Votto and Jonny Gomes. The Red Birds scored another in the third stanza, but the Reds and pitcher Johnny Cueto shut them down the rest of the way until Arthur Rhodes surrendered a run in the 9th. The Reds were powered by 3 more homeruns in the 6th inning as Brandon Phillips, Drew Stubbs, and Jonny Gomes knocked the ball over the fence. Gomes had 2 homeruns and 4 RBI's to lead the Redlegs over St. Louis this afternoon. The Reds got 2.2 solid innings of work out of the bullpen combining for just 2 hits and 1 run allowed. Wainwright (L, 0-1) could not pick up on the rythem he ended last season on, giving up 5 runs in the game. Tomorrow the series will conclude as the try to get the opening series sweep of St. Louis. The pitching matchup is projected to be Bronson Arroyo (CIN) vs. Kyle Lohse (STL).
