Re: Bronx Bugle - New York Yankees

Roy "Whiff Master" Oswalt delivering a pitch in tonight's game!

Robbie Cano knows many ways to turn a double play, as he does it beautifully again tonight!

Roy Oswalt picks up career strikeout number 1500 in team's victory.

The Yankees squeaked out a 5-4 win over the Orioles last night in front of 51,683 fans at Yankee Stadium, pinning a one-run loss on the visitors from Baltimore.

Roy Oswalt picked up his 2nd win of the season, going 7 and a third innings, allowing 3 runs on 6 hits. Mark Teixeira was 1-for-4 and had 1 RBI on the day.

Tomorrow night Andy Pettitte (4-0, 4.55) of the Yankees will oppose Jeremy Guthrie (2-1, 7.71) and the Orioles in the finale of the series at Yankee Stadium. Nick Markakis hopes to add to his 13-game hitting streak.

Re: Bronx Bugle - New York Yankees

Curtis "Take It Back" Granderson robs Nolan Reimold of a home run!

Brian Roberts still showing that he wants to be in contention for the Gold Glove, with a gorgeous turn on the double play!

New York squeezes out victory over Baltimore.

Tonight at Yankee Stadium the Yankees were able to put enough runs on the board to beat the Orioles, 4-2 the final. Andy Pettitte gave up 1 run and 4 hits over 6 and a third innings of work, and that was good enough for him to record his 5th win of the season, and 5th in a row.

Giving the offense a mild boost was Brett Gardner, who went 2-for-3 on the day.

The Yankees travel to Boston for the first game of a 7-game road swing, as Phil Hughes (1-0, 1.47) gets the nod against Clay Buchholz (1-2, 3.95) under the lights at Fenway Park tomorrow.

Adrian Beltre hopes to add to his 10-game hitting streak.

Re: Bronx Bugle - New York Yankees

New York Yankees GM Brian Cashman had this to say,"To be quite honest with everyone, I was pursuing Cliff Lee way before I ever traded for Roy Oswalt. Cliff had gotten injured, and it was too soon to tell how serious it was.

Jack Zduriencik was eager to do another deal with me from last time as I acquired David Aardsma from him previously. Cliff Lee will complete the rotation and it should be solid for the rest of the season."

Seattle Mariners GM Jack Zduriencik had no comments on the trade.

Cliff Lee had this to say,"The Yankees have been making a lot of early moves this season and I honestly didn't think I would be pursued after getting injured early on. But that sure didn't stop them. Just like the previous players who have been traded for said, we are coming to a great winning organization.

I shouldn't have any problem fitting in, as I now will get to pitch with my friend C.C. Sabathia. I hope I will be able to help this team a great deal, and bring another championship to New York. And if I'm resigned in the off season, hopefully I could help bring a lot more."

Re: Bronx Bugle - New York Yankees

Big Papi gets the good wood on the ball, as he drives his 7th homer on the year out of the park!

The Grandy Man and everyone else is admiring his blast at Fenway! *Look for the tiny, and white dot right above the "P" in Park.

Alfredo Aceves roughed up as the Yankees fall to the Red Sox.

The Yankees worked overtime last night, but it was the Red Sox who eventually won the AL East contest 7-6, in 10 innings. Dustin Moseley, working in extra innings, took the loss, allowing 1 run in 4 and third innings. Curtis Granderson launched a big home run and knocked in 3 runs to provide the offensive firepower.

Joe Girardi was asked after the game about his team's efforts."It's no mystery why we lost today. We didn't score more runs than the Red Sox."

The Yankees look for another road win in game 2 of the series tonight, but it won't be a walk in the park: the Red Sox starter is Josh Beckett (2-4, 3.53), their ace, who will work against Phil Hughes (1-0, 1.47).

Re: Bronx Bugle - New York Yankees

13 K's by Josh Beckett, that sure is impressive!

Mike Cameron is about to jump for joy, after hitting his home run!

Grandy Man was strutting his stuff around the bases after hitting his home run!

This is Gardy, just before he gunned down Jacoby Ellsbury!

Yankees get to ace closer Jonathan Papelbon, beat Red Sox with a late rally.

The Yankees and Red Sox needed extra innings to decide an AL East showdown, with New York eventually winning 6-2 in 10 innings at Fenway Park. The club was helped big time by Nick Johnson, who had 2 RBI and whose lone hit was a home run.

Mariano Rivera ended up being the victor, eschewing his usual "S" for a "W," his 1st of the season. Mariano Rivera, discussing his team's performance, said,"We always like to come back and win, and we were able to do just that against their bullpen."

The Yankees wrap up the series behind their best pitcher, C.C. Sabathia (4-1, 3.43), who will be opposed by Jon Lester (3-2, 7.12) when the series concludes this afternoon at Fenway Park.

The Yankees acquired 1B Lance Berkman from the Astros for 1B Nick Johnson, RF Edwar Gonzalez and SP Kei Igawa.

Re: Bronx Bugle - New York Yankees

Dice-K kept the Yankee offense nonexistent.

Jeremy Hermida really likes the pink bats, as he hit two bombs in today's game.

Mark Teixeira loved the pink bats as well, as he admires his homer over The Green Monster

Robbie Cano gives you many reasons why he should win a gold glove!

What's in Robbie's wallet? Not the gold glove, that is on his hand!

New York drops one to key rivals, losing to Boston.

On the road in an AL East contest, New York came up short against Boston, losing by the final score of 7-4. Nick Swisher was the big hitter, clubbing a pair of home runs and knocking in 3 runs on the day.

C.C. Sabathia (4-2) was roughed up in defeat, as he only pitched 4 innings, giving up 4 runs on 7 hits.

Tonight the Yankees are in Detroit to begin a series with the Tigers, Cliff Lee (1-1, 1.98) and Max Scherzer (1-4, 7.62) are the projected starters at Comerica Park.

Austin Jackson hopes to add to his 11-game hitting streak.
