It was a beautiful opening day all around major league baseball. It was looking to be a great season opener for the Phillies too, until Halladay got exhausted. Raul Ibanez started things off with a two run homer to right field, he and Jayson Werth, who was hit by a pitch, scored. In the same inning....Shane Victorino scored after being moved up on a Halladay sac bunt, and a Rollins sac fly. Making it an early 3-0 Philadelphia. After that strong 2nd inning, the Phillies were shutout. Roy Halladay was doing all the work on the mound, keeping Philly ahead 3-1. However, when he got taken out. Nationals PH Jesus Flores singled, followed by a Willie Harris 2 run HR tying the game. After that, the Phillies bullpen looked horrific giving up 3 runs in the 8th. Final score, PHI 3, WSH 6. Nyjer Morgan was ejected from this game after arguing about being called out at 1st.
