We are in Reading to face the Phillies as my turn comes up. The team stakes me to a 1-0 lead before I take the mound. I had one of my better nights as I had scattered 4 hits, not allowing one until 2 outs in the 3rd, and 1 walk through 6 inning and the first batter of the 7th. I was pulled after giving up a lead off single in the bottom of the 7th. The closer allowed a run in the last of the 9th as we won the game, 2-1. My third win of the season.

We are back home and are hosting the Connecticut Defenders as my next start comes around. I allowed single runs in the first two innings then shut them down the next two before leaving with 2 outs in the 5th. We were trailing, 2-1, when I left the mound but got no decision as we tied the game 3-all in the 8th before losing, 5-3.

It is nearing the all-star break so the manager calls me into the game in Harrisburg to start the bottom of the 8th with us on top, 5-3. I allow 1 hit and 1 walk with 1 whiff before being pulled with 1 out in the last of the 9th. I get a hold as the closer came in and got the final 2 outs as we win, 5-3.

Back home again as we host the Portland Sea Dogs on my last start before the all-star break. I allow single runs in the 2nd and 3rd inning and left with 1 out, 1 on and 1 run in in the top of the 4th. We were up, 4-3, when I was pulled and we ended up winning the game, 11-7. I was awarded the win so now I am 4-9 on the year.

My starts are getting better since the pitching coach has me working on my mechanics although he is not used to pitchers throwing from shoulder high. He's more used to pitchers throwing 3/4 or higher.

We are in New Hampshire to face the Fisher Cats as my first start after the Double-A All-Star game. I cruised along until a solo blast in the 5th and a 2-run blast in the 6th did me in. All in all, I was pulled after allowing a lead off single in the 7th with the Fisher Cats winning, 3-2. My replacement allowed the runner to score and we lost the game, 4-2, my 10th loss this year.

The manager called me into his office and told me that my 3-week goal period has ended and I did a terrific job by making all 6 of my goals. However, he said that the Twins were keeping me here in Double-A because I still need some more seasoning and I needed to improve on my stats.

New 4-Week Goals
1. Increase arm strength (more long tossing between starts)
2. Increase bunting ability (some time in the batting cage)
3. Have a fielding PCT of .990 or better

We are hosting the Reading Phillies as my next turn rolls around. This was my best effort of the season as I shut out the Phillies on 5 hits, fanning 6 and walking no one, through 8 innings and told that my night was done. We were leading the game 4-0 after 8 innings and won the game, 4-1. Win #5 on the season.

We are on the road to take on the Bowie Baysox this time around on my last start for the month. I allowed a lead off single in the last of the 5th with the score tied, 2-2, when I was pulled. I allowed 5 hits and 2 walks while uncorking wild pitches #24 and #25. I must be leading the league in that category. My base runner was erased but the guy who replaced me gave up a run in that inning and we ended up losing the game, 3-2.
Code:
               1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 R
New Britain 0 0 0 0 2 0 0 0 0 - 2
Bowie 0 1 0 1 1 0 0 0 x - 3
