Giants Announce 25-man Opening Day Roster
Wilson and Ross start season on DL, Belt earns spot with Ishikawa waived
Cody Ross will start the season on the disabled list with Brian Wilson
San Francisco - With Spring Training coming to an end, and games starting to count for real, Giants skipper Bruce Bochy announces the opening day roster. The Giants will start the year carrying 12 pitchers and 13 fielders. Closer Brian Wilson will start the year on the disabled list with an oblique strain. Cody Ross will also start on the DL with a hamstring injury. Prospect Brandon Belt will take the spot of longtime back-up first baseman Travis Ishikawa and right fielder Nate Schierholtz will earn a spot on the bench. Belt will start on Thursday night at first with Aubrey Huff at right. Guillermo Mota and Dan Runzler will join the bullpen of Ramirez, Romo, Lopez, Affeldt, and Casilla.

Belt shines in Major League Debut, Giants lose in bottom of the ninth
Giants and Dodgers combined for 17 runs in opening day slugfest
Los Angeles - Launching the defense of their world champions title, the Giants got off to a quick start, with Brandon Belt striking his first major league home run and hit in the same at bat. The Giants went up 5-0 on Dodgers starter Clayton Kershaw with homers from Huff, Sanchez, and Posey. The Dodgers quickly came back and tied the game at 6 with a homer from Marcus Thames and doubles from catcher Rod Barajas and second baseman Jamey Carroll. Brandon Belt goes yard for his second in the game in the eighth to give the Giants an 8-6 lead. Jeremy Affeldt came to try to close things out for the injured Brian Wilson, But Rod Barajas hits a walk-off 3 run home run to send the Dodgers home with a win.
"It's been a dream come true, from fighting for a spot to starting on opening day," Belt said after the game. "Even though we didn't get the W tonight, we still got 161 games to go."
"It's tough to lose a game like this, you want to start with a good record, I lay that curve right down the middle for [Barajas]," Jeremy Affeldt told the press after the game.
"I want these guys being aggressive," manager Bruce Bochy said. "I don't want them being afraid to make a mistake. That's the way you play. You play to win."
The Giants will start Jonathan Sanchez tomorrow against Chad Billingsley.

Re: One More Time! | The 2011 San Francisco Giants (MLB 11 The Show)
Belt Continues to Shine as the Giants Win 8-7
Rookie Phenom goes 2 for 4 with 4 RBIs
Los Angeles -- What can you say about this kid Brandon Belt? Just two days after being called up to the big club, he has already delivered 3 home runs and 7 RBIs. With a 4 RBI performance in addition to his home run, he is a serious candidate for Rookie of the Year. Tonight the Giants get a narrow win against the rival Dodgers with a rally in the 8th with the help of Miguel Tejada and Pablo Sandoval. Sergio Romo gets the save in two innings of work as Ramon Ramirez gets the win. Starter Jonathan Sanchez gave up 10 hits in 5 innings before being pulled by manager Bruce Bochy. Opposing pitcher Chad "The Giants Killer" Billingsley did not have his best stuff tonight either, as he gave up 5 runs in 5 innings. The Dodgers came back in the middle innings to lead 7-6, however, Hong Chih Kuo took the loss as the Giants rallied in the 8th.
"Today was just a tough outing, they were on their game and I hope do better next time," Sanchez said.
"We had trouble limiting the hits," skipper Bruce bochy said, "I guess the luck just went on our side tonight cause the game could've gone either way."
Matt Cain will take the mound on Saturday against the Japanese import Hiroki Kuroda.
Brandon Belt continues a strong showing as he drives in 4
Torres gets a RBI triple in the fifth
Belt delivers his third home run of the season
Romo goes two innings to get the save
