Lotz is 35 years of age and is eager of getting his feet wet in pro baseball, even if it is a very humble beginning.

Hess Leaves Team After His Wife Dies Unexpectedly

Mark Hess.png

LEWISTON - Sad news out of Lewiston today. Mark Hess has left the team indefinitely after the sudden passing of his wife. When pressed for comment Sounds Manager Ed Scott said: "Mark is obviously very shaken by this, and he has already left for home to be with his family and take care of the business he needs to take care of. I told him to take all the time that he needs. He will give a statement when he is ready to return."

Hess Returns To Team, Looking Ahead

Mark Hess.png

LEWISTON - Ten days after Mark Hess left the Sounds after the sudden passing of his wife, Mark has returned with his head held high.

"I have come to terms with what has happened, and I must focus on the future. My wife was everything to me, and will always be a part of my life. But, I know that wherever she is, she wouldn't want me to lose myself over this. Everyday, I will work and play hard, because I know that's what she would want."

BNN NEWS (Short Season Single A Edition)

Opening Day

It's opening day in the PBL Short Season A! Our hardball heroes are back in town for another fresh season of baseball. It is a time of joy and optimism, a time to get away from the world for three hours, enjoy a few hot dogs, hamburgers, and cold beer, scream at the umpires and cheer our favorite teams to victory.

Here is how the opening day schedule shakes out...

Indianola Rubies @ Lubbock Bandits
St. Paul Rail Cats @ Phillipsburg Devils
Sleepy Eye Cavemen @ Orlando Gappers
Chorpus Christi Corsairs @ Bakersfield Doughboys
Sidney Brash @ Madison Pacers
Lewiston Sounds @ Pittsburgh Rush
Oriskany Pioneers @ Stanford Strike
Anchorage Cliffhangers @ Mancelona Caymans

***This just into our newsroom***

The League formerly known as the PBL Short Season A, has been renamed. This change of name is effective immediately.

From this point forward the name of the league will be called: Rising Stars League (RSL)

With Two Sub Leagues (Gold/Silver)
With Two Divisions of Four Teams:
(Gold League > Ruby Division / Sapphire Division)
(Silver League > Onyx Division / Pearl Division)

There will be no DH, no interleague play, and no wildcards.

Exactly like their parent the league, Purist Baseball League (PBL)

NEWS FROM AROUND THE RSL

Kevin O'Comley.png

O'Comley Mystifies Bakersfield
Wednesday, June 24th, 1874: "I hope we miss him next time," the Bakersfield manager said. "O'Comley certainly pitched a strong game against us today. He was in a groove, throwing everything for strikes. Throwing hard. Changing speeds."

Corpus Christi starter Kevin O'Comley tamed the Bakersfield Doughboys 5-0 with a 5-hit shutout, finishing the game with 13 strikeouts and 3 walks in a sharp outing.

"I enjoy facing a team like that where I can get an out on one, two or three pitches," O'Comley said. "It gives me a chance to be a lot more aggressive."

Jacob Ricardson.png

Richardson Bangs Out 5 Base Hits
Wednesday, June 24th, 1874: Next time the Devils might think twice about pitching to Jacob Richardson. Today at Ballpark of Phillipsburg the St. Paul left fielder really burned Phillipsburg pitching, going 5-for-6 in the Rail Cats 15-7 triumph.

"When he's seeing the ball well," his skipper told reporters, "he can probably stroke a base hit blindfolded."

Jacob Richardson singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, hit a two-run single in the 3rd, hit a three-run home run off Manuel Martínez in the 5th, struck out in the 6th and hit an RBI double in the 8th.
