Major League Shakeup - The Show 10 Fantasy Franchise
 PREFACE: This is my first attempt at an MLB Dynasty/Franchise on the site. It’s the first one I’ve really undertook in probably 4 years whatsoever, so bear with me if I have a few quirks, I don’t follow the sport as closely as I should. The reason behind the upcoming fantasy draft is built around a few things. First off, I’m a Red Sox fan and can’t really see myself doing anything to take over a “struggling” team such as Kansas City or Pittsburgh. That said, I’m not a fan of playing a team that’s already one of the best, I think in MLB ’10 the Red Sox rank second overall. That’s no fun. So, I figure it’s worth a change of pace. There’s also the fact that his is MLB ’10, not ’11 and I can’t access the internet to download rosters, thus, I’m stuck with the default ones. I’d prefer to change things up since the season I’m watching is obviously different than the one I’ll be playing. And last but not least, who doesn’t like a little bit of off the wall stuff in their franchise? All in all, I hope you enjoy it. The goal is to pick one of my starters and play all of his starts while simulating the rest. If there’s another game in between I’d like to play, I may step in and play anyway. Any game I don’t play, I’ll be sure to at least post a box score with info from the game. Major League Baseball announces a drastic move. Just weeks after the Yankees won their twenty-seventh World Series trophy; MLB Commissioner Bud Selig has announced what could make for one of the wildest seasons ever seen in major league sports. In a press conference Monday afternoon, Selig confirmed rumors of what fans call a “Fantasy Draft” that includes all thirty teams in the league. “I know it sounds a little crazy,” said Selig, “but with ratings starting to slip, we felt the need to do something big. This is what we call big.” Selig would go on later to give a quick explanation of what exactly would happen. “It’s quite simple really. Every single player in the league will become available. We will have a random order for the draft with it alternating each round. For example, if Boston were to pick first overall, they would then pick last in the second round. This will continue until all players have been draft. Teams will then build their clubs and after two weeks, trades can be made. It should be known that each and every player will keep their current contract. If Josh Beckett is making 11.3 million this year with Boston, he’ll make the same if the Cubs draft him. Contract negotiations cannot be made until the off-season.” Selig said the announcement of the order of the draft would be announced on December 23rd at 7:30 EST on ESPN. The draft will be held on Primetime on New Year’s Eve, Thursday December 31st starting at 8:00 in the evening. It will run for four hours, ending promptly with the ball drop in Times Square. It’ll then start up again on Friday afternoon and continue through the weekend until all players are picked.
