Re: Jack Wyatt- Too good, too pretty, he should be illegal.
My 1st year up we did, but we seemed to lose to Texas most of the time. we squeaked by in the ALCS (Wyatt hit 8th inning HR in game 7). We get to the WS vs ATL and swept them in four.
I didn't make it to the majors until 2013, and by that time they had made a lot of trades/signings and had a couple of draft picks blossom and make a huge impact. On the flip side they have been morons at times. For 2013 they had Mike Stanton for 1 year. He only hit 50 homers and had over 150 RBI's - and then was a FA.
Another trade was Michael Pineda AND Felix Hernandez for Cliff Lee and Dice-K. Huh? It's worked out though, because we also got Aroldis Chapman, Johnny Venters and ATL's closer (As ATL fan, name fails me at moment), but traded the closer Joel Hanrahan. They traded Ichiro for Stanton, gave up younger pitchers for older ones. If it wasn't for the 2013 rookies and a couple of good 2014 rookies we'd be in BAD trouble.
Texas already had Ubaldo & Colby Lewis and then added Sherzer with Feliz still in closer spot. Tough three games.
The Angels are better and then all of the A's rookies matured, so there is no easy win in the AL West anymore.
The good news is there is a REALLY good SS at AAA that is beyond ready for the majors and isn't on the 40 man roster. Meanwhile Valaika, or whatever his name is, is stinking up a really good lineup.
Long story short it looks like Texas will be the bane of the Mariners and Jack Wyatt's existence in 2014.
EDIT: Add Johan Santana to their starters, another starter I struggle against.
