Re: Bienvenido a Miami | Miami Marlins Franchise (MLB 2K12)

Marlins Christen New Ballpark With Walk Off Win

The inaugural regular season game at sparkling new Marlins Park ended in a 2-1 Marlins victory over the St. Louis Cardinals in 10 innings. It was a classic pitcher's duel, with Josh Johnson battling Adam Wainwright deep into the contest. Johnson allowed just 2 hits and had a comically low 72 pitch count through 8 innings, prompting manager Ozzie Guillen to leave his ace in for the 9th to try and complete the shutout. The Cardinals managed to scratch across their 1st run and tie the game 1-1 with 2 outs in the 9th inning, ending Johnson's hopes for an Opening Day shutout and sending the game into extra innings. With 1 out in the 10th, Logan Morrison laced an RBI single, his second hit of the night to give the Marlins a walkoff victory to begin the 2012 season.

Marlins Bats Come Alive, Spoil Reds' Home Opener

Giancarlo Stanton and Gaby Sanchez each launched their first HR's of the season

Mark Buehrle's first start as a Marlin was a solid one as he tossed 7 innings of 4-run baseball in Cincinnati. In a seasaw battle which saw eight lead changes, the Marlins came out on top on the heels of a 3-RBI game from Giancarlo Stanton. The 22-year old slugger connected on his first homerun of the season in the 5th inning. Gaby Sanchez also hit his first long ball of the young season. Miami-native Mat Latos was roughed up by the Fish and knocked out after just 5 and 2/3 innings on Thursday in Cincinnati's home opener.

Re: Bienvenido a Miami | Miami Marlins Franchise (MLB 2K12)

Off to a good start man, excellent job taking care of those pesky NL Central teams thus far. I'll be following for sure.

Out of curiosity, why deal Zambrano? I know his rating isn't like super high, but he definitely is a serviceable guy to put in your 3 hole in the rotation and Oswalt can't be much better than him can he? Is he just one of those guys you really don't like using?

Re: Bienvenido a Miami | Miami Marlins Franchise (MLB 2K12)

Well, Oswalt had better ratings in just about every category and only cost me $6 million, whereas Zambrano's contract was $14 million in 2012 and $15 million in 2013.

I appreciate you dudes following this, thanks!

Phillips Caps Off Big Day With Walk Off Blast

Brandon Phillips is mobbed at the plate following his walk off HR in the 9th

The Marlins pitching staff could not solve the bat of Brandon Phillips Saturday at Great American Ballpark. The Cincinnati second baseman capped off a 3-hit, 3 RBI game with a mammoth walk off homerun off Marlins reliever Steve Cishek in the 9th inning, sending Reds fans home happy with their first win of the season. Through the team's first two games Phillips' batting average sits at a healthy .625 clip. Marlins first baseman Gaby Sanchez managed to tie the game at 4-4 in the top of the 9th with a clutch 2-RBI single off Reds closer Ryan Madson but the Miami bullpen could not hold on in the bottom frame. Roy Oswalt made his first start as a Marlin and lasted 6 and 1/3 innings, surrendering 4 runs on 8 hits and striking out 3.
