Game 9
[html]
Vanderbilt Commodores at Wake Forest Demon Deacons
Feb 25, 2006123456789RHE
Vanderbilt (5-2)01340020010182
Wake Forest (5-4)000001000142
W: R.Luderer(1-0) L: A.Szyslak(0-3)

This was by far the worst game so far, in this early season. As you can see..we didnt hit very well. Anthony Szyslak has yet to find his rythm on the mound. Unfortunately, as it stands, the Demon Deacons do not have anyone to replace him until he finds himself.

Game 10
Vanderbilt Commodores at Wake Forest Demon Deacons
Feb 26, 2006123456789RHE
Vanderbilt (5-3)000000000091
Wake Forest (6-4)0000002002110
W: S.Siegfried(1-0) L: B.Lutz(0-1) S: R****ssell(1)

The bats came back after a short hiatus. However, this time they forgot how to drive in runs. Wake Forest left about 8 men on base, probably 5 or 6 were in scoring position...cant do that! However, finally in the seventh, catcher Brian Fuentes belted his first home run of the year, a two run shot, to give the Demon Deacons the lead. The Wake Forest bullpen would come in and shut the door. Chris Tanigawa went six innings, fanning 3 while giving up eight hits.

Hitter of the Series:
-C Brian Fuentes(3):2-8, 1HR, 2RBI, 1R

Pitcher of the Series:
-Chris Tanigawa: 6IP, W, 0ER, 3K, 8H

Wake Forest has now split, every single series, except WVU. One game its good hitting and bad pitching, the next day its outstanding pitching and atrocious hitting. We'll find our medium someday and hopefully it sticks. We now stand at 6-4, and are about to enter their most demanding month of baseball for the season with only seven days off in a 31 day month. We face three ACC opponents. NC State, Duke, and Florida State on the last day of the month.

OUCH. You weren't lying about that game one...

But you did bounce back a little in game two, so good to see some resiliency from your team. I'd like to see some win streaks though, some small ones at least...continual splitting games is the quickest way to a .500 record.

Not sure who to worry about most out of the next three ACC opponents, but I have an undying hatred for all things FSU so please kill them, lol. Good luck!

Trust me dude, im right there with you haha. Im tired of splitting. Florida State is going to be my haqrdest of the 3. Theyre 8-2, scored 86 runs(ive scored 29 lol), theyre batting .390 as a team(im batting .261, lol), and they have 18 home runs(i have 3 lolol). The only thing i have better than tyhem is stolen bases, by 2, and ERA which ours is considerably lower than theirs. We have a 3.03 which is very good. They have a 4.77. Im about to throw up the first months stats. Id play a game or 2 but i have a game of my own here in a few hours.

Man, I didn't think FSU would be that good. let's hope they suffer some horrific injury to their lineup to make them weaker, lol.

Coaches Notebook
-Coach Rembielak

Well the first month is past us. I saw some good things, and some very bad things. But thats what non conference games are for.

Stats are not everything. They are a big part of it, but they dont show everything. Like, look at Eric Schwartz. He has 7 hits this year, hes batting below .200 but yet he has i think six runs batted in. Thats what were looking for. He knows his role, and we're pleased with him so far. The base hits will start falling for him.

However, as a team we havent been hitting the ball very well. As you have seen, there were a few games where we couldnt hit literally anything. Although i do think were putting the ball in play well, the ball is just going right to the fielders. Something i hope to do more all around is steal some bases. We dont have GREAT team speed. We just have a few guys who can swipe a base or two a game. That will come more, though with better hitting and better approaches in general.

Pitching. More bright spots than dark spots. A few rough games here and there. Mike (Moreno) has been outstanding so far. Hes keeping hitters off balance and getting ground balls. Anthony (Szyslak) is having a bit of trouble locating some of his pitches, which is why you see him struggling to keep guys off base. Our bulpen has been above averagee to this point. Especially Rick (Quantrill). Hes done everything we've asked of him, and we assured him it wasn't going unnoticed.

Well, we stand at 6-4 currently. We start conference play later this month. We need to be at our absolute best baseball, come that point in the season. Because once you hit conference play, there is absolutely no looking back. We still have a few spots where guys are trying to prove themselves, and thats where you see who really wants to be the starter. We have an interesting and EXTREMELY important month ahead of us. Hopefully, to those of you reading this, you will enjoy watching the Demon Deacons baseball team this spring.
