ROYALS TRADE RUMORS

  • Several Royals scouts where in attendance at the AAA all star game at Citi Field and about 30 Royals scouts where in attendance at the Futures Game. The Royals had around 20 scouts on hand for the All Star game. These where not regular scouting trips. The Royals appear to be looking to make a massive splash in the trade market at the deadline. More than likely the Royals are looking for impact players that can help the club this season.
  • 4 Special assignment scouts where in attendance for Tyler Skaggs' first start after the break. Skaggs pitches for the Diamondback's AAA affiliate.
  • The Royals have been scouting backup catchers heavily and have stated they are looking to move Bryan Pena and Humberto Quintero.
  • The Royals are also targeting an innings eater, DH and 2nd baseman.
  • The Royals have been rumored to be targeting Matt Garza.

Re: The Royal Way- The Kansas City Royals road from a Franchise to a Dynasty

BREAKING NEWS ROYALS COMPLETE FOUR MEGA DEALS.
Kansas City, Missouri- The Royals have announced the completion of three massive deals as well as one smaller one. This has proven the Royals are serious about winning in the now as opposed to the future.

Trade 1
The Royals made a surprising move and captured one of the young up and comers from the Angels.

Quote:
ANGELS GET:
Jim Thome
Brandon Sisk

ROYALS GET:
Mike Trout

The Royals scored huge here as the Angels looked for an impact bat. The Angels didn't want to have to give Trout up but with their offense struggling, they needed Thome to DH. Brandon Sisk was thrown in at their request to get a high value reliever. Even though he was a D potential, Sisk was incredibly valuable to the Royals and was on the cusp of making it to the majors.

Trade 2
The Royals made a move to shore up their bullpen and rotation in this three way deal:

Quote:
ASTROS GET:
Buddy Bauman-RP from Royals.

REDS GET:
Carlos Lee from Royals

ROYALS GET:

J.A. Happ from Astros
Aroldis Chapman from Reds

The Royals orignally needed a pitcher to fill the revolving door at the number 5 spot and gave up Baumann with absolutly no guilt as the Astros were in Salary Dump Mode. The Royals took advantage of that and aquired Happ and Lee from the Astros before sending Lee to the Reds. The Reds were in need of a bat after Joey Votto got hurt and will be out for the next two months so they dealt the Royals Aroldis Chapman, who was expendable to them, for Lee. The trade benifits all parties if Baumann can find the strike zone. He has all the Velocity but absolutly no command what so ever.
Trade 3:
With this deal, the Royals made a move to shore up the DH spot in the future.

Quote:
NATIONALS GET:
Jason Bourgeois
Bryan Pena

ROYALS GET:
Tyler Moore-1B

With questions about the DH spot in the future looming, the Royals took the initiative and brought in Tyler Moore who will compete with Clint Robinson for that spot next year. Moore, projects as an impact bat and should be ready shortly when a position becomes available.

Trade 4:
This the deal everyone has been waiting for and rightfully so, for the Royals acquired their franchise player.

Quote:
CUBS GET:
Johnny Giavotella
Desmond Jennings
Noel Arguelles

ROYALS GET:
STARLIN CASTRO

The Royals are now pretty much set expect for maybe one more trade for a starting pitcher. This trade gave the Royals exactly what they needed- an impact bat. This off season, the Royals are going to try to lock him up for a very long time.

Roster Moves:
In a flurry of Roster moves, the Royals have made the following:
2B Tony Abreu from AA to AAA
LF Tim Smith from AA to AAA
CF Brett Eibner from AA to AAA
SP Justin Marks from A to AA
SP Greg Billo from A to AA
2B Whit Merrifield from A to AA
RF Josh Bell from A to AA
CF Bubba Starling from A to AA

LUKE HOCHEVAR
Quote:
As the players for the All Star Game where announced, Luke Hochevar noticed his name missing. "I've been the comeback player of the year. I'm going for the Cy Young! Are you kidding me!". Before he spoke those words outside his thoughts, he saw Jonathan Sanchez getting high fives from the other guys and congratulations.

Back at home while he was watching the All Star Game and sulking. His phone began to ring. "Unknown Caller". Hochevar picked it up and a raspy voice on the end began. "Luke we know what you and your friend are doing and if you really care about the team, you'll back off." Before Hoch could reply, the line went dead.

"I'm doing what he asked me to do and I won't let anyone stand in my way."

Royals Futures Game Participants

Quote:
Cuthbert was one of the top international prospects to be signed during the 2009 season. At age 16, he had a plus glove and a good bat. Look for Cuthbert to bounce around position wise in the Minor Leagues because of the infield at the MLB level.

Quote:
Jorge Soler was signed by the Royals during the season and went to start his time in AA. Soler has more potential than Yoenis Cespedes but is less polished. Soler should be an effective force in the Major Leagues in about 2-3 years.

Quote:
Mike Montogmery was selected by the Royals in the supplemental round of the 2008 draft. Montgomery projects to be the Royals future ace and should break in with the big league club either this year or in Spring Training
