Detroit Tigers: Going for Broke in 2012 (MLB the Show 2012)

Hey all, I am starting a Detroit Tigers Franchise for MLB the Show 12. I'm using the OSFM 6-11 update posted by Ridindwnkingsley although I have made a couple roster moves that I noticed such as the Youkulis trade to the WhiteSox.

I also am starting fresh for injuries. First day of spring training, everyone was healthy. Injuries are random and I will not be generating any injuries myself. So in my world guys like Victor Martinez, Chris Carpenter, and Mariano Rivera are healthy.

I am doing 30 team control. I will make all trades during the season and any free agent signings. Once the season starts, roster decisions and lineups will be controlled by the AI, with the obvious exception of the Tigers. I will make off-season decisions as well for contracts and free agency. When multiple teams seem like possible destinations for free agents, I will use random.org and possibly develop a system similar to what someone developed for NBA2K12 that gave points for such characteristics as franchise location, winning, amount of contract, etc. To be sure, with Fielder, Cabrera, and Verlander, the odds of the Tigers making a big free agent splash are almost nil.

If you are interested in my other dynasty for NBA2k12, the link is in my signature of each post.

I simmed spring training and set 40 man rosters and lineups myself, but as I noted above, these will change as injuries occur and the AI makes choices. I did not specifically follow the current 40 man rosters in the actual MLB but chose on need, previous major league experience, and overall rating.

I hope everyone enjoys and I appreciate any feedback or suggestions.

Re: Detroit Tigers: Going for Broke in 2012 (MLB the Show 2012)

Tigers Win On Opening Day 6-5

The Detroit Tigers opened the 2012 season with a come-from-behind victory over the Boston Redsox in 10 innings. Detroit fell behind 2-0 after ace Justin Verlander gave up back to back homeruns to Adrianm Gonzalez and Ryan Sweeney in the 2nd inning. The Tigers closed the gap to 2-1 with a run-scoring double by Alex Avila in the 4th, however in the 5th Verlander gave up a 2-run single to Jacob Ellsbury to give Boston a 4-1 lead. In the bottom of the 5th Victor Martinez homered to the opposite field to cut the lead to 4-2. The Tigers then scored three in the 7th as Avila hit an opposite field shot off of Redsox starter Josh Beckett. Miguel Cabrera had a single to score Ryan Raburn and then Brennan Boesch scored the go-ahead run on a passed ball on Sox catcher Jarred Saltalamacchia. The lead held until the 9th when Tiger closer Jose Valverde gave up a single to David Ortize to open the 9th. Ortiz advanced to 2nd on a groundout by Gonzalez and to third on a groundout by Sweeney. Then Valverde had a fastball rise up and tail on Avila, who had it bounce of his glove, all the way into the dugout to score Ortiz and tie the game up 5-5. The pitch was scored a passed ball and the game headed for extra frames. In the bottom of the 10th, new Tiger Prince Fielder singled. He then made a bold dash to third on a single from Victor Martinez, evading the tag of a diving Will Middlebrooks. Tiger manager Jim Leyland then inserted Don Kelly as a pinch-runner for Fielder on third base. Delmon Young followed with a 410 foot fly ball to center that would have scored Fielder anyways, but in this case scored Kelly for the winning run.

Valverde got the victory and Matt Albers took the loss for the Redsox. Detroit had 15 hits for their 6 runs, while Boston only had 6 hits. Redsox pitching did strike out 10 Tigers. Both teams have a day off before resuming the series on Saturday.

They are from Chiliad and are the one's specifically to be used in conjunction with BedwardsRoy's roster set. The 2012 draft is actually posted by BedwardsRoy but uses Chiliad's work, then the 2013-2015 drafts are under Chiliad's name but make note in the description that they are optimized for use with Bedwardroy's rosters. The reason is that Bedwardroy's rosters have some very specific edits such as making all the isoloation tendencies zero and making other tendencies add up to 100 per "group." If a draft class isn't done in the same way, it would probably be fairly incompatible.

Hope that helps. I plan on continuing to do my Pistons dynasty as well, although probably simming almost all the games, atleast until the playoffs. Just kinda taking a break right now.
