Re: OOTP 13 Video Dynasty
Columbus Hurricanes 2013 Midseason Review
Surprises
1B Chris V. Carter and 3B Eric Sogard
Carter and Sogard looked to be AAAA players after putting up great numbers in AAA the year before, but faring terribly when given the opportunity in the big leagues. However, with Adam Laroche not panning out, Carter has gotten a chance to take over at 1st and has done a wonderful job. Sogard has been used as an utility player, starting all over the place when Jemile Weeks was injured earlier in the season and earned a platoon role with Jose Lopez as lefty righty combo at 3rd and has done a wonderful job in that role.
C Chris Stewart
While Chris Stewart's numbers do not blare out at you. (.263 in 2011 with 0 HR, .270 in 2012 with 1 HR) He has done an amazing job behind the plate calling the game and defensively(.371 % CS, 1 Error) as well as being a productive hitter.
Dissapointments
Yoenis Cespedes
The highly touted Cuban has not put up the numbers people have expected after a quality rookie year. After hitting 23 hours and 93 RBI's in 2012, expectations were high for him this year. However, he suffered a separated shoulder the first month of the season and has not bounced back since.
Injury Plague
The Columbus Hurricanes have suffered through a tremendous amount of injuries this year. With 6 players on the disabled list right now, it is surprising that the Hurricanes are still able to keep themselves in contention. Quality middle reliever Kelvin Herrera will be out for the rest of the season and Coco Crisp who had a hot start could be in back in time for the post season; he is suffering with post concussion syndrome. The hot hitting Josh Reddick's burst has been put out for about a month, but will be back by the beginning of August. There may be something special to this Hurricane team though with the way they've fought through all these injuries.
