Mat Latos didn't look loose coming into this game. He game up five hits in the first three innings, and the damage was already done after one as a double would bring in two runs. If that wasn't good enough for the Brewers in the third for some insurance they would score one more as Braun would hit into a double play.

That one run would play the difference as Ludwick would take a homerun on a rope in the bottom of the fourth to only show some threaten attack of the Reds this game. After settling down after the first three innings he would go on a strikeout tear as he would end up with 8 in 8 innings. Problem was in the top of the eight to lead off the inning on the first pitch Aoki would send one just over right field wall to add to their lead.

Latos would be pulled after the eight, but that was all for the Reds as they would only managed one hit in the final two innings, and struck out three times as Axford would come in to get the save in which the last batter he faced (Ludwick) would strike out swinging.

REDS Notes:
Choo snaps 14 game hit streak
Votto hits his 10 double on season
Ludwick second game with 2 RBI's (4 on season)
Frazier error (5)
Latos ERA now over 2 (2.17)
Braun snaps 13 game hit streak with a 0-3 night and a BB

The middle of the lineup for the Brewers did all the damage as 2-5 hitters got every hit except for one, which went to the pitcher Gallardo, as they were a combine 7-15 in the game while everyone else was 0-11. With three runs in the first inning it looked as if they were in control of the game as they just got hit after hit.

After the first inning they would only have a one run lead, and after three straight outs to end the second you saw all the momentum swung back to the hometeam. Bailey got some help as it would only take three innings to tie the game and the fifth to take the lead.

While it would basically stay that way until late in the game the Reds bats were hot as every single player, other than the pitcher, recorded a hit in the game. Choo was the closest to a cycle as he was only a triple shy of it.

This was one game on paper that the Brewers actually were favorite to win. Especially with rumors that Votto looked a little fatigued last game. He would get the start today and didn't look two bad with a 3-5 night. Ludwick continues to go on a tear after being injured and called back up after the trade with a 3-4 night with 2 RBI's.

Bruce would injure himself sliding into second on a weird play in the seventh. A double play ball looked to be in the works as Ludwick would hit a liner to Weeks. His throw to Segura was high. As Segura was trying to retrieve the ball five feet from the bag, Bruce decided to still slide. Segura didn't even have time to attempt a throw to first by the time he got it. Bruce would get up slowly as he was clearly shaken from the slide, why did he slide no one knows, but he has been watching hockey lately so he stayed in the game.

Bailey hasn't been watching hockey recently as he would go out in the eight inning already thrown 99 pitches.

The plan was to let him go one more inning and then bring in our closer to close it out. Well most the well laid plans don't ever plan out. Ours didn't as for the 102 pitch be would hunch over in pain and we had to take him out. Plus in the bottom of the eight we tack on three more runs so there was no way to bring in Chapman. Said Baker about the mess that happened in the eight. However, Bailey will be out for a couple of days so it looks as if he might be able to make it back for his next start.

REDS Notes:
7 different Red's had an RBI today
6 doubles by Reds in this game
Choo stolen base (19)

It was a slug fest today. Apparently both Arroyo and and Alvarez had really short term memory or they just were angry and thought that they could win the battle against the hot streak guys.

For Alvarez it was Frazier, who won player of the game, as he was 2-2 to start out (ended 2-4), but had two homeruns, and the third at bat hit one to deep center in which Ruggiano was on his horse to not allow at least a double out of it.

For Arroyo it would be Morrison as he started out 3-3 (ended 3-4) and his first and third at bats he hit solo shots to right. His other hit was a double which was eerie similar to Frazier if he got his hit to fall in. Choo couldn't chase down his double.

Other similarities between the two pitchers is that they both allowed both five runs and were close on hits (8-9) in the game. That was all the similarities though as Alvarez would have four strikeouts in his five innings while Bronson only had one all game. That's right the only reason why he only had one strikeout cause most of the time they were swinging at the first or second pitch as he went the complete game with only 82 pitches.

Votto would add the insurance run in the ninth inning with a two-run blast as Arroyo would score as he would get his first hit on the year earlier in the inning. In the bottom of the ninth Arroyo shouldn't of allowed a run, but Choo misread a ball and allowed Ruggiano to get his only hit in the game which was a triple with one out.

REDS Notes:
4 of the 13 hits where only singles
Rest was: 5 doubles, triple, and 3 homeruns
Cozart got his second triple of the year

Reds would get another big lift in the first inning. They would need it as they would have the newly aquired pitcher from the trade with the Marlins a week ago on the mound and he is still on a cold streak. After four straight hits in the first inning the Marlins finally got a out, but the damage was done as the Reds tacked on 4 runs.

It looked as if Turner was red hot for being a Red now since the first 22 pitches he thrown in 3.1 innings were all strikes and had three strikeouts. Still even throwing those strikes, and first pitcher to throw strikes for at least two consecutive innings, he would run into the red hot Red's killer in Morrison who took him deep in the second inning to cut the lead to three.

Still for his first outing as a Reds Turning had a decent game in six innings. He started to lose his control as he walked two straight batters in the fifth so he would be pulled after the sixth inning. Le Cure would come on as our long reliever. He would give up a homerun in the seventh to Morrison. Can we please not pitch to him. That is his fourth homerun on the year and its all been against us as he has had two the previous two games.

Still looked okay until the eight when Le Cure would come unraveled as he would allow seven hits and five runs. Baker tried to warm up, a pitcher but was afraid to pull him with a cold pitcher as well since the bats finally woke up for the Marlins. He would give up the lead in the eight which means Turner couldn't get the win (I just have bad luck with my #5 starters as they are 0-3 in 8 games so far). Still the Reds had Le Cure leading off so their was more worrisome faces on the Marlins side than the Reds.

Top of the ninth Heisey would get on base to lead off as he would get hit on the second pitch as a pitch hitter for Le Cure. Next Choo would repay the pitcher with a two-run homerun to tie the game. Phillips wanted the party to continue all into the night in south beach for the couple of handful of Reds fans at the game so he went back-to-back on the third pitch of his at-bat to take the lead. Next was Votto and with his second homerun of the game and back-to-back-to-back homeruns would cap off their four run inning. Marshall would come in and allow a single. After a pop out it was up to Chapman who does what he does in his sleep and just continue to get outs as he got another save on the year.

REDS Notes:
Votto 10 game hit streak with an RBI single in first
Le Cure first blow save chance (1-2 on saves this year)
First time for back-to-back-to-back homeruns
Choo (20) and Phillips (10) stolen bases in first inning
Cozart only player not to get a hit (0-5)
Morrison torches Reds for second straight game with 2-3, 2 HR's, 4 RBI's

Even with a three run lead to start off the game it looked as if Cueto might drop his first game as the lack of pitch control has effected him as well for the fifth straight starter for the Reds. He would only allow one run in the first due to a lead off double, and then two sacrifice outs to get him to score.

In the fourth the Marlins would tie it up as they got four hits in the inning with the first three being doubles and would score two runs off of Cueto. Cueto couldn't even handle the hottest man in baseball, according to just the past series, as Morrison would again drive in a run and go 2-2 (2 2B's) in the game and a walk before being sub out in the eight inning.

Also with Votto taking a break, while his backup Soto, did an exceptional job in his place with a 3-5 day. It would be Cozart who could get Cueto's back and allow Cueto to again notch another W in his ninth consecutive start. As Cozart would score the run to give him the lead with a ground rule double, and then adding another RBI in the ninth inning with a sacrifice fly.

Reds would pull out the sweep for the first time on the road, which wasn't that hard to do against the Marlins who haven't had a lot of breaks so far other than Morrison this series. Reds however will try to duplicate that next series against the Phillies on the road.

REDS Notes:
Choo went 0-5
Batters 3,4,5 (Soto, Bruce, Ludwick) went 8-14 with 4 RBI's
Chapman got a full inning for a save with 2 K's and a ground out to first.
Hannahan who has compiled at least one hit in each game went 0-4 with 2 K's
Reds have not lost to the Marlins in 7 games this year
