5-23
Game 1
Doug Fister V. Lucas Harrell
The Astros have blown all expectations out of the water. Unbelievably, they are doing worse then last season. Hopefully, this series goes my way... Because it'll be embarrassing otherwise. Game 1 turned out to be a true pitchers duel. Both pitchers went through 8 innings, but it was Houston who made the mistake of putting a reliever in for the 9th to face Prince Fielder, who launched a home run to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead. Fister would close out the game going the full 9 innings, giving up just 3 hits and striking out 9.
Game 2
Max Scherzer V. Jordan Lyles
After Fister gave the bullpen a rest, they were ready to go if Max got into trouble... But that didn't happen. Against a lackluster offense, Max went the full 9 innings, allowing 1 ER on 5 hits, 2 walks, and striking out 10. Meanwhile, Detroit's offense exploded for 11 runs, 6 brought in by Torii Hunter. Tigers win game 2 11-1.
Game 3
Drew Smyly V. Bud Norris
This should be Smyly's easiest start of the season on paper. Unfortunately Smyly was less then stellar, but thanks to Fister and Scherzer, the bullpen was fully ready to go and help out Smyly. Smyly went 6 innings, allowing 5 ER on 8 hits and 2 walks. He struck out 7. Villarreal, Benoit, and Coke came in consecutively to secure the win for Detroit 8-5.
Game 4
Justin Verlander V. Erik Bedard
Really? Erik Bedard is your number 2? Oh boy Houston... Bedard was shell shocked as he gave up 6 ER in just 2 innings of work. Verlander meanwhile... Was Verlander. JV went 8 innings allowing 3 ER on 6 hits and 2 walks while striking out 9. Dotel came in to seal the game in the 9th. Tigers win 14-3! The Tigers complete the 4 game sweep of Houston and are now on an 11 game win streak!!!
