Re: "Snakebit": Arizona Diamondbacks Franchise [MLB 13: The Show]

Miley pitched a complete game in the Arizona win.

MILEY TURNS THE LIGHTS OUT IN MILWAUKEE IN WIN, 5-1.

PHOENIX, AZ -- It was a cold 39 degrees at Miller Park, but that didn't keep Arizona pitcher Wade Miley (1-0, 0.00 ERA) from heating things up via his pitching performance. Miley pitched a complete game in the D'Backs win over the Brewers in the series opener, 5-1.

"That felt good. I wanted to start off on how I left the 2012 season. I think I turned some heads tonight." said Miley. He allowed a single run the whole night on a Goldschmidt fielding error, while striking out seven Milwaukee hitters.

"All these guys deserve a pat on the back tonight." mentioned Kirk Gibson about his team's performance. "We came in with a plan and executed."

Executed they did. In the early innings, both pitchers were matching one another stride for stride in terms of pitching. But all that changed on a Eric Chavez walk, followed by a two-run shot by Diamondback's second baseman, Aaron Hill in the 4th inning.

"I was trying to be aggressive." remarked Hill about his homerun.

Miley didn't just help the team pitching. He also had the bat going. During the 4th inning he flied a single to center, that deflected off of the Brewers' Carlos Gomez, scoring Paul Goldschmidt. He'd end the night 2 for 4. Not bad for a pitcher if I say so myself.

But Milwaukee would escape the shutout. Paul Goldschmidt bobbled a ball thrown by Eric Chavez in the dirt, allowing the speedy Carlos Gomez to take first base on an error. It could come back to haunt Arizona, has Norichika Aoki would put a crooked number on the board for the Brewers on a fielder's choice.

"I was gunning for the shutout." said Miley. "But I'm satisfied with the win. I need to go and ice this arm, it put in work tonight."

Milwaukee used a bunch of its bullpen tonight. We will see if that has any consequences as the D'Backs and Brewers resume their series tomorrow. Another young Arizona pitcher, Patrick Corbin, will make his debut against Milwaukee's Marco Estrada. Both will be trying to notch their first win of the young season.

Be sure to catch your Arizona Diamondbacks on the tube, tomorrow night!

I forgot to add in the article also that Martin Prado is on the disabled list with a "strained finger", haha. That is the reason I put Pennington in.

Looking at 1-6 days of being out. Until then, Willie Bloomquist is taking over at SS.

Re: "Snakebit": Arizona Diamondbacks Franchise [MLB 13: The Show]

Montero had a hot bat in Saturday's game, hitting 2 HR.

D'BACKS WIN A CLOSE ONE AGAINST BREWERS, 4-3.

PHOENIX, AZ --It was a hard-fought game at Miller Park on Saturday as the Arizona Diamondbacks downed the Milwaukee Brewers. Most of the offense for Arizona came via Miguel Montero's bat. He jacked two homers, one in the first inning and another following in the sixth inning, both of them were solo shots. He'd end the night 2 for 3, with a walk and a strikeout.

"I was seeing the ball well tonight. I'm glad I could lead the team to a win tonight." said Montero, who mightly struggled in the series against the Cardinals.

Jason Kubel also contributed to the Arizona offense, doubling in Gerardo Parra and Willie Bloomquist on a ball hit to centerfield. This gave the Diamondbacks some early run production and breathing room, as they took the lead 3-1 after the third inning.

Patrick Corbin, the young D'Backs pitcher who started the night against Milwaukee had a solid outing in his first win of the season. His line ended at 5 and 2/3's of an inning, surendering three earned on eight hits, while managing one strikeout.

His opposite, Marco Estrada, was also effective, allowing one earned over five innings. But the Milwaukee bats couldn't power him to a win.

"It was decent. I expect much better from myself." responded the young Corbin after leaving the clubhouse.

Another big factor in the win also was the Arizona bullpen. After tonight, they've allowed no earned in the past five games. Pretty impressive! They came in and shut down the Brewers' hitters, ultimately allowing closer J. J. Putz to earn his third save of the season.

"The bullpen has been phenomenal. So far, they've always kept us within reach when we've needed them. I can't say enough." remarked Arizona manager Kirk Gibson.

Tonight's win keeps Arizona neck and neck with the Dodgers, who also beat the Pittsburgh Pirates, for first in the NL West. Los Angeles will be coming to Chase Field soon, with a series between the two teams beginning on April 12th.

But there is still Milwaukee in the front view! Can the D'Backs bring out the brooms and sweep the Brewers on the road? Find out tomorrow, as the series finale gets underway. Both aces from each team, Arizona's Brandon McCarthy (1-0, 3.86 ERA) and Milwaukee's Yovani Gallardo (0-0, 5.40 ERA), will take the mound in what should be a great game.

Brewers going with five pitchers back-to-back seems a bit odd to me. Nevertheless, nice wins there in Miller Park. 4-1 now, right? That's a nice start to the season.

Thanks. Yeah, they've used alot of their bullpen the first two games. But I hadn't seen Narveson or Peralta until this game. They did utilize the double-switch when they brought in Gonzalez.

Arizona pitching is why I'm at 4-1. I want to see some more walks from my side of pitching. Hadn't had many. I'll give it a few more games and then I might adjust some sliders to fix it a bit. It is 50/50 if they chase a ball I throw outside on full counts.

I think Gallardo is great in real-life. I'm not looking forward to facing him in my next game.

Re: "Snakebit": Arizona Diamondbacks Franchise [MLB 13: The Show]

Arizona hitters looked helpless in today's game.

BREWCREW HAS FIELD DAY WITH ARIZONA IN SERIES FINALE.

PHEONIX, AZ-- It was a beautiful day for baseball at Miller Park, this Sunday afternoon. But it problably seemed like a nightmare for the Arizona Diamondbacks as they were shutout by the Brewers in their series finale, 13-0. Arizona starter Brandon McCarthy (1-1, 7.15 ERA) got slammed in his second start of the season, only lasting 4.1 innings.

Kirk Gibson made a brief comment to the media about what could have went wrong in today's game. "We weren't focused. It was all around a bad game." he said.

McCarthy gave up four runs early, one coming off Ryan Braun's third homer of the season. He was pulled in the fifth by Gibson, leaving the bases loaded for his relief, Randall Delgado. Delgado, who made his first appearance out of the pen this season, didn't fair well in his debut. He would allow six runs, with only one being earned, after just getting one out. Gibson decided to make another move to the former starter, Trevor Cahill, who came in and stopped the bleeding in the 5th.

But the damage was done. Milwaukee was up a WHOPPING 13-0 after the fifth.

"My location was off today. I just couldn't get into a groove." remarked McCarthy. He'd end the night giving up a total of six earned on nine hits, ballooning his ERA to 7.15.

Not all of the loss fell on pitching, though. There were no batters to back him up. They didn't see their first hit of the game until the top of the seventh inning when catcher Miguel Montero slapped a single to left. But they were never able to put together enough hits to get anything started.

"Umm, I think we were too aggressive. Give credit to Gallardo, he worked us tonight." responded veteran Martin Prado, who returned to the line-up after a minor injury to his hand.

Gallardo, who tasted his first win of the season, pitched all nine innings, earning himself a complete game in the process. He allowed no earned runs, three hits, while striking out four. It was definitely a confidence booster for the veteran ace of the Milwaukee Brewers pitching staff. Gallardo also bailed out his bullpen, who had been used extensively the prior two games of the series.

"Their bullpen should be thanking him. He put the load on his shoulders today." said Arizona pitching coach Charles Nagy. "It wasn't fun for me to watch as a coach, though." Nagy also said, as he laughed.

The D'Backs, now 4-2 on the year, head back home to host the Pirates, who were just got swept in their series with the Dodgers. Can Arizona turn the door of momentum back in their favor?

We should be in for a treat when Pittsburgh comes rolling into town, as Ian Kennedy (1-0, 2.57 ERA) will take the mound against Pittsburgh's A.J. Burnett (0-0, 4.50 ERA). The first game of the series starts tomorrow night at 6:40 p.m., so make sure to get your tickets or tune in on the television and support your Arizona Diamondbacks!

Re: "Snakebit": Arizona Diamondbacks Franchise [MLB 13: The Show]

Well two days ago I tried to start my series with the Bucs and the file was corrupted once again to my dismay. BUT! It also happened to several few of my other game files that I've not played in a short bit.

So being fed-up as I was, I took my PS3 to my local game store and talked about it to them. FORTUNATELY someone told me they had the same problem and it was a failing PS3 HD. It could've been a sales pitch but, this thing is getting pretty old...

But he had a solution and that was to use a memory adapter and save it on some cards, he said it had worked for him. So I got one and plan on doing that with this next franchise thread.I basically just play MLB: The Show on my PS3 nowadays anyways.

In the end though, I lost another dynasty. I'll probably start a new one here tonight or tomorrow. But it won't bet the Diamondbacks, though I THOROUGHLY enjoyed the write-ups and everything I had going for this franchise.

It is just a pet-peeve of mine, that I hate doing the same franchise twice. Haha!

So those that were following, I apologize, ONCE AGAIN. But I'll be bringing you another dynasty, hopefully with the third try being the charm with no problems.

But as I mentioned, when I lost the last one, I'm open to suggestions on my new dynasty. So if there is a time that you'd like to see, please reply and let me know. I'd like to do something that hasn't been done on these forums as of late and would be somewhat of a challenge, so keep that in mind when making a suggestion. Thanks to everyone for their input, for those whom did, as I can take some of the things from this franchise and move it on to my next.

Re: "Snakebit": Arizona Diamondbacks Franchise [MLB 13: The Show]

Sorry to hear about the PS3. My wife just bought me one for my B-Day. The White 500 gig, so hopefully I won't have any issues. Heavens knows I have had enough with my 360..

Was enjoying the read. I have always like the Dbacks, probably because next the Marniers they are the team I have watched the most games live..

As far as who to go with next time around it's hard to say. Everyone seems to like the rebuild projects, which works out great for me because my 2 fav teams are the Cubs and Mariners. But it's also fun to play with a team that atleast has a few players you like as well.

As far as rebuilds go, only teams I don't see to many franchise threads on are maybe the Whitesox and Padres, but you could always go the route of trying to keep a winner a winner as well.
