I really didn't notice the lack of steals until I posted the stats. I think Castro should probably have a few more, but it doesn't surprise me that my guys aren't swiping bases. You're right, neither one of us really have a speed guy.

Thanks for the kind words guys, it's great to know that there's followers.

On a different note, I'm starting to feel like the box score/game recaps are getting to be a little boring. I'm simulating multiple games per series, so there's not a lot I can do. But, my plans are to get around the All-Star break as quick as I can without playing a whole lot of games. I'm playing about one in every five games as it is now, taking turns using different guys in the rotation.

There's two possible scenarios for the All-Star break in my mind right now. Either I'm in the hunt for a playoff berth, and I start playing more games and giving more detailed game writeups, with pictures and such. Or, I'm not in the hunt, and I go into a complete fire sell mode, and try to build the best possible team for 2014, and get to going with the nicer recaps then. If that happens, I'll probably keep my current schedule of playing about one game during the week and simming the rest.

If anybody has thoughts/suggestions, I'd love to hear them and improve the franchise.

Rockies Sign Roy Oswalt
By Charlie Wilmoth

FRIDAY: Jon Heyman of CBS Sports tweets that Oswalt will be able to earn more than $4MM should he reach all of the incentives in his contract.

THURSDAY: The Rockies have signed pitcher Roy Oswalt to a minor-league contract, the team tweets. Oswalt had previously tweeted to expect "exciting news."

The Rockies will send Oswalt to extended spring training, the Denver Post's Troy Renck tweets. It appears likely that the Rockies will eventually promote him if he pitches well in the minors, although that is not certain.

It's not yet clear what Oswalt's role with the Rockies might be, although he has said that he prefers to start. The Rockies' rotation currently includes Jorge De La Rosa, Jeff Francis, Juan Nicasio, Jon Garland and Tyler Chatwood, with Jhoulys Chacin returning from injury to start on Sunday. Oswalt's deal contains out clauses, Renck writes.

Oswalt's agent, Bob Garber of RMG Baseball, said in March that his client hoped to pitch for a contender in 2013. He had previously been connected to the Phillies and Mets.

Oswalt pitched 59 innings for the Rangers in 2012, with a 5.80 ERA but 9.0 K/9 and 1.68 BB/9. The righty has a 3.28 ERA in his career, pitching for the Astros, Phillies and Rangers. Oswalt did not rank in MLBTR's list of the offseason's top 50 free agents.

Bullpen Shuffling: Chicago Cubs
By Charlie Wilmoth

The Chicago Cubs have made a flurry of roster moves in the past week, starting with the signing of relief pitcher Kevin Gregg. To make room for the reliever on the 40-man roster, the Cubs designate utility player Brent Lillibridge for assignment.

Gregg will report to the club's spring training facility in Mesa, Arizona before being assigned somewhere within the organization.

Gregg, 34, was released by the Dodgers earlier this month as the club already had their surplus starters taking up spots in the bullpen. The right-hander appeared in 40 games for the O's before being released last September, with a 4.74 ERA, 7.6 K/9, 4.9 BB/9, and a 47.8 % ground ball rate in 43 2/3 innings.

The Cubs have also announced that they have released Hisanori Takahashi and promoted Guillermo Moscoso from AAA Iowa.

The Seattle Mariners have claimed RP Takahashi on waivers.

Current format works for me. I totally get the desire to get to the break, so you can see if you are a buyer or seller. Also totally understand the desire to start in 2014. It's actually what I do with my Cub's Franchise I mess with when I am not playing with the M's.

Tigers Trade for Capuano
By Charlie Wilmoth
[May 6 at 8:58pm EST]

With starters Anibal Sanchez and Rick Procello on the shelf for the next month or so, with a torn finger ligament and an elbow injury, respectively; The Detroit Tigers have completed a trade with the Los Angeles Dodgers for former starter Chris Capuano, reports John Heyman of CBS.

The Tigers probably wouldn't be in this position, but injuries to Drew Smyly and Octavio Dotel have completely depleted their pitching staff. The Dodgers had a surplus of starting pitching after acquiring Zach Grenkie this past winter.

Detroit parts ways with hard throwing pitching prospects Alex Burgos and Edgar De La Rosa, both 22 years old. Burgos, the 5'11" lefty is believed by many to be the better of the two pitchers, and will start at the AAA level. De La Rosa is a very raw, 6'6" righty that could blossom into something special down the road. He has a good frame and throws hard, but may end up in the bullpen if he can't correct recent control issues. It'll be interesting to see how the Dodgers use these guys down the road.

"I'm ecstatic that I have the opportunity to start again, and be a part of a great ballclub like the Detroit Tigers," said Capuano.

I was pretty surprised with the amount of injuries Detroit had through a month too. I knew Sanchez and Dotel were hurt, but when I saw Smyly and Porcello were too, I knew I had to do something. Thankfully I haven't had that kind of luck so far.
